Feel free to leave any concerns about DÅÅTH's article, or or the band itself. Thanks - Mike.

This Article is a Promotion

edit

um the article seems to be one giant promotion of the band... Panasonicyouth99 23:08, 8 January 2007 (UTC) !Reply

How is it a Promotion?

edit

Give me some reason why your think this article is a promotion.

What disgustingly overhyped drivel we've got here...

Because this article, as of 18 Jan. 2007, was copied directly from Daath's website? The entire article should be scrapped and rewritten with NPOV in mind. Phrases like "poised to emerge as one of the most exciting new bands of 2007" and "pushing the boundaries of traditional death metal" are clearly biased towards the band and reek of Roadrunner's marketing department. There are also far too many quotes from the band members themselves - I doubt any of the information in the article (besides the one sentence near the end about the band's formation) could be claimed as "objective". 72.90.166.176 18:54, 18 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

True.

edit

However I didn't copy and paste it there. I might re-write it soon, but some random person will most likely revert it. (Knowing Wikipedia). But anyway, yeah you are right. I'll try to fix it. Michael 23:46, 30 January 2007 (UTC) Mike5193

Notability

edit

You may have jumped the gun here on how notable this band is (so far). Please read guideline: Wikipedia:Notability (music). No tours, discography, reviews, mentions, etc.... An article is not for promotion. Deletion is possible. Xndr 18:22, 7 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

the band is Notable

edit

Criteria #3 states that the band should have gone on a national tour in one large or medium sized company - DAATH toured the full us in November/December 2006 with Goatwhore and Cattle Decaptiation. DAATH toured the entire US in January/February 2007 with The Acacia Strain, Job for A Cowboy, Psyopus, and See You Next Tuesday. While this has not happened yet DAATH will be embarking on a full Europe tour in March/April with Unearth, Job For A Cowboy, and Despised Icon. These tours are well documented and can be looked up anywhere that there is news about this particular genre of music.

Criteria #4 states that the band should have 2 or more releases on a major or large indie label. While DAATH does not enitrely fit this criteria DAATH is a band on Roadrunner Records which is owned by the Warner Music Group and is considered the 3rd largest heavy music label in the world.

Criteria #5 states that at least one member was once a part of a notable project. The drummer, Kevin Talley, has been the drummer for notable bands such as Dying Fetus, Misery Index, Chimaira, and now DAATH. He has also toured with Suffocation, The Red Chord, and The Black Dahlia Murder. The guitarist Eyal Levi has played guitar for Melodic Death Metal band Arsis

Criteria #6 states that the band has become the most prominent representative of their style for the city. DAATH is the first death metal band ever signed to a large label out of Atlanta.

The band has articles about it including a review in the latest issue of Decibel and Metal Hammer magazine as well as many more on the way.

Also, the description of the band is their official bio which was not written by them. It as written by a 3rd party. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Mrjumping (talkcontribs) 12:22, 20 February 2007 (UTC).Reply

Removal of promotional language

edit

Wikipedia is not a fanzine or press-release service. I've trimmed out all of the promotional language from this article: what remains states the basics, and is a reasonable start for creating a longer, NPOV article on this band. I've also removed the warning tags, and marked it as a stub. -- Karada 12:31, 20 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

"Please, stop changing this page."?

edit

Why? It needs upkeep and expansion. And, for some reason, people keep reverting and editing it back to unconventional formatting. Please try to use the other band pages as a guide to keep this one looking good. = ∫ tc 5th Eye 21:35, 7 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

I wasn't talking to you.

edit

I'm not telling everyone to stop! This guy: "192.107.39.18" was vandalising the page, and I was telling him to stop. Get your facts before you start bossing people around.

The capitalization issue is getting ridiculous.

edit

I understand if some band pages have names of instruments capitalized. However, this is not proper grammar nor is it official Wikipedia style. The Albums project (Wikipedia:WikiProject_Albums#Credits) supports this. I ask that the words (which are common nouns) remain uncapitalized, unless strong evidence that says otherwise is presented. = ∫ tc 5th Eye 16:57, 17 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Avant-garde metal

edit

I've searched many metalsites, but I couldn't find any mention of DÅÅTH being an avant-garde metal band. And honestly they doesn't sound avant-garde metal either. I'm removing it. Kameejl (Talk) 23:42, 28 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Did Sean Farber, their vocalist, LEAVE?

edit

http://myspace.com/daath

Sean has been blacked out on their profile, his name removed from the list of members... nothing is confirmed just yet. LuvataciousSkull 16:12, 22 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

It has been confirmed that Sean has left the band, no reason given yet. DAATH Seeks new Vocalist LuvataciousSkull 01:10, 23 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
