Basic biographical details

edit

Has anyone got an ext ref for d.o.b., place of birth, school and basic biog background? --Mais oui! (talk) 08:14, 13 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Someone's added a year of birth, but can anybody confirm that it's 1974? A Google Search of the words Damian McBride 1974 only seems to generate articles making references to events involving the Wilson Government. TheRetroGuy (talk) 22:53, 15 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

he worked for HM customs and excise not the inland revenue, before joining HMT. please get facts correct. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.3.122.173 (talk) 17:09, 1 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Well if this is correct then the reference I used when I wrote this article last year was wrong. Blame them not me. TheRetroGuy (talk) 17:48, 1 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

The press could never work out the difference between HMCE and the inland revenue. Despite it being a quite simple and obvious distinction. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.3.122.173 (talk) 15:33, 2 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

This says he worked for the Inland Revenue. TheRetroGuy (talk) 18:14, 1 April 2010 (UTC)Reply
Guess they could be thinking of HM Revenue and Customs which is a composite of the Inland Revenue and HM Customs and Excise. Trust a Tory newspaper to get their facts wrong. TheRetroGuy (talk) 18:24, 1 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

intercepted email

edit

How were the emails leaked and by who, a most relevant question. According to the mail, Downing Street used a hacker-proof e-mail system. I wonder who set it up?

It's more likely a whistleblower inside Number 10 or Labour than a hacker. (For all Derek Draper's protestations that his e-mail has been "hacked into", it's rubbish because nobody cares what's in his inbox.) MultipleTom (talk) 20:22, 19 April 2009 (UTC)Reply
Look these accusations ought to be deleted by now. McBride isn't as much of a twazock as ppl accuse him of being. He's intelligent, hard working and effective. He's almost as well known as A. Campbell. Isn't it time for this B.S. to be forgotten? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Nusgnitteseht (talkcontribs) 07:39, 7 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

Date of birth edit war

edit

There appears to be an attempt from User:Tpbradbury to assert a date of birth of 1970 based on a single source (The Daily Mail!). Now then, an extant source (The Daily Telegraph) would beg to differ. As such I've removed the date of birth until we have some kind of unified reliable source either way. Further edit-warring should be discouraged. The Rambling Man (talk) 18:03, 25 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

1974 was added for a while, but that was never referenced. Maybe his autobiography will shed some light on the matter. Paul MacDermott (talk) 18:36, 25 September 2013 (UTC)Reply
This from the Daily mail claims he was 35 in 2009, however it also claims his MPhil thesis was dated 1996, which if he were born in 1974 would put him at 22 when he got his masters. Or 26 if born in 1970. There are a few other references to 1974, but a lot of these seem to refer back to wikipedia.Martin451 (talk) 19:12, 25 September 2013 (UTC)Reply
Being 35 in 2009 would narrow his birth year down to 1973/74, and 22/23 would be about the right age for a masters if he did that straight after his degree, but we need something solid. Paul MacDermott (talk) 19:23, 25 September 2013 (UTC)Reply
