hyperreals in the Dedekind–MacNeille completion

[edit]

It may be worth pointing out that the hyperreals are a (proper) subset of the Dedekind–MacNeille completion of the hyperrationals. Tkuvho (talk) 07:56, 27 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

self-dual?

[edit]

It does not seem correct to say that this is self-dual, but rather that it preserves or respects duality. I looked up Birkoff's paper and did not find any mention of "self-dual", but only a mention of "preserving". Tkuvho (talk) 08:05, 27 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

More accurately, duality respects the completion. Tkuvho (talk) 08:06, 27 May 2011 (UTC)Reply
