episode title: “Jessie’s Girl” or “Jesse’s Girl”?

edit

Episode titles in D:TNG appear onscreen during the opening credits. The title appearing onscreen in episode 0708 is “Jessie’s Girl”. The spelling ‘Jessie’ in the episode title is different from the spelling of the character Jesse Stefanovic. Rather, the episode title uses the same spelling as the Rick Springfield single “Jessie's Girl”. The CTV web site is incorrect when it refers to the episode as “Jesse’s Girl”. CTV does not name the episodes, the show’s producers do. In any event, the episode itself is a reliable source for its own title, more so than the network’s promotional materials. (In Canada the episode can be watched online here.) Also it is worth noting that The-N refers to the episode as “Jessie’s Girl”. [1] [2]. --Mathew5000 (talk) 04:18, 23 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

I had it listed as "Jessie". User:Robinepowell said it was without the i, and it made sense. You are right though, it is with an i. -- αŁʰƏЩ @ 05:52, 23 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
Haha, I was just about to add a reference to the CTV.ca website to prove that it was "Jesse" (no "i") until I saw this Talk page bit. Good thing I read before I changed it! Angel caboodle (talk) 01:46, 29 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

"Correct" order of 717 and 718

edit

Regarding this edit, I believe we need some kind of reliable source before stating that The N aired these episodes out of order while CTV's ordering is correct. I know it might seem obvious that 717 should be aired before 718, but remember that the production numbers are the order in which the episodes are filmed. It is not at all uncommon for TV shows to shoot episodes out of order, deliberately, for various reasons such as availability of guest stars. Just because 717 was shot first does not mean the producers intended it to be watched first. --Mathew5000 (talk) 17:23, 5 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

This point is discussed in the article production code number (albeit without references). It gives the example of The X-Files as a show where the "correct" order was the order in which the episodes aired, not the order of production numbers. You can also look at season 4 of Friends for a similar example. Hence I made this edit to make the article more neutral in the absence of a good reference as to what the producers' intended viewing order of the episodes is. --Mathew5000 (talk) 15:13, 6 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

episode title: “Don't Stop Believing”

edit

The title as it appears onscreen includes the ‘g’ in ‘believing’ [3]. --Mathew5000 (talk) 20:52, 10 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Also the production code is 723 (displayed as the last three digits of the ISAN during the end credits). It looks like they may have altered this episode at the last minute because Steve Belford's name appears in the credits while he does not appear, and the name of Von Flores does not appear in the credits while he does appear (playing Mr. Santos). --Mathew5000 (talk) 20:59, 10 June 2008 (UTC)Reply
Actually, CTV had put half of the following episode online. I assume the episode was broadcast correctly. Thus I reverted the production numbers in the table.--Mathew5000 (talk) 07:19, 13 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Class of 2007

edit

Just thought I'd mention that the class that graduates in Season 7 (which includes Emma, Manny, Toby, et al) is the class of 2007. I would have thought it was 2008, too, but the episode said 2007. - k|e|n|g - t | c - 23:33, 22 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

It’s because the show compressed time in seasons 6 and 7; each takes place during one term. (Season 6 started in September and ended with the Christmas dance; season 7 began in January.) See Talk:Emma Nelson. --Mathew5000 (talk) 08:11, 25 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Must get to Ga or FL status

edit

Degrassi: The Next Generation (season 7) must become GA-class or FL-class by 2008-09-23 as the Featured topics/Seasons of Degrassi: The Next Generation currently fails criterion 3.a. Zginder 2008-07-08T20:33Z (UTC)

“co-executive producer” etc.

edit

I made a few miscellaneous changes to the cast and crew sections, I think most are well enough explained by my edit summaries, but I wanted to emphasize that we shouldn’t describe an executive producer as “co-executive producer” because they are two distinct job titles. (See Television producer.) Also, and this is more a question of taste, I don’t like using the word “the” in sentences like “Vera Santamaria was the executive story editor”, because it implies that it is a job that is supposed to be done by one person, when in fact it is a job title that could be held by any number of people, or no one at all, depending on the seniority of the various members of the writing team. Therefore I deleted the word “the” in reference to story editors and producers. But I think it would be fine to use that word in relation to other jobs that are generally done by exactly one person, e.g. “Stephen Stanley was the production designer” or “Steve Wright was the costume designer”. --Mathew5000 (talk) 21:27, 3 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned references in Degrassi: The Next Generation (season 7)

edit

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Degrassi: The Next Generation (season 7)'s orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

Reference named "DVDs6":

  • From List of Degrassi: The Next Generation episodes: "Degrassi: The Next Generation - Season 6". TVShowsOnDVD.com. Retrieved 2008-03-18.

I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. AnomieBOT 03:52, 14 February 2009 (UTC)Reply
