House of Windsor
editThe House of Windsor was not limited to the descendants of George V, but consisted of all those members of the House of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha who relinquished their German titles in 1917. Other members in 1917 were the Princess Royal, Princess Victoria, the Duke of Connaught, the Duchess of Connaught, Prince Arthur of Connaught, Princess Arthur of Connaught, Lord Macduff, Princess Patricia of Connaught, Princess Alice, Countess of Athlone, Princess Christian and Princess Beatrice. I changed the wording to refer to the descendants of the George V. In my mind there seems to be some confusion about the meaning of this phrase House of Windsor. For instance one editor insists that Zara and Peter are not members of the House of Windsor. I think that they are non-royal members of the House.Pacomartin (talk) 23:40, 12 October 2009 (UTC)
- I'd say they weren't. Wilhelm II of Germany was a female-line grandson of Albert of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha. Was he a member of the House of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha? Certainly not. Opera hat (talk) 13:34, 1 November 2009 (UTC)

George V (descendant list) → List of descendants of George V — - Since that is what this article is. "George V (descendant list)" uses a very unusual form of disambiguation, and isn't very searchable. --84.92.117.93 (talk) 23:26, 31 October 2009 (UTC)

Reliable and verifiable sources
editThis page shows some descendants in line to the throne and some excluded. Shouldnt there be reliable and verifiable sources for such information.Lewisdl (talk) 10:49, 5 July 2011 (UTC)
I also see that Leo Cyrus Lascelles is mentioned twice on the page with different birthdates. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lewisdl (talk • contribs) 17:49, 26 July 2012 (UTC)

Requested move 18 July 2018
edit- The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the move request was: move the articles to Descendants of George V and Mary of Teck and Descendants of George III and Charlotte of Mecklenburg-Strelitz at this time, per the discussion below. Dekimasuよ! 07:11, 26 July 2018 (UTC)
- Descendants of King George V and Mary of Teck → Descendants of George V and Mary of Teck ''or'' Descendants of King George V and Queen Mary
- Descendants of King George III and Charlotte of Mecklenburg-Strelitz → Descendants of George III and Charlotte of Mecklenburg-Strelitz ''or'' Descendants of King George III and Queen Charlotte
– The current titles are technically wrong. The kings are referred by their regnal names and the word "King" is added before their given names while the queens are mentioned by their maiden names. They all should either be mentioned with their royal titles (i.e. Coronation of King George V and Queen Mary) or with the titles that have been used and chosen for their main pages (George V, Mary of Teck, etc.). Per WP:CONSISTENCY as the article about George and Mary's coronation is at "Coronation of King George V and Queen Mary" it could also be argued that this page should follow the same format. The other format could be used as well, and in fact the words "king" and "queen" have been excluded from the titles of similar articles (i.e. Descendants of Charles II of England, Descendants of James VI and I, Descendants of Henry II of France and Catherine de' Medici, Descendants of Ferdinand II of Aragon and Isabella I of Castile, etc). Removal of Mary's descendants
editI think the section about Mary's descendants should be removed. It contains unsourced material about living minors who are not public figures and not in the line of succession and dubious, unsourced claims about these children's legitimacy. I see no reason why personal data about these children should be on wikipedia and it seems contrary to WP:BLP. DrKay (talk) 09:21, 15 February 2021 (UTC)
- Actually, it's less serious than I thought. It's fairly easy to amend the article by removing the very distant descendants of George V only. All the descendants down to great-great-grandchildren can remain, including those of Mary. DrKay (talk) 17:53, 28 February 2021 (UTC)
