Dongyue Emperor → ? – The current name "Dongyue Emperor" is a subject of controversy. I've initiated a discussion and am uncertain whether the article should be titled "Emperor Dongyue" or "Dongyue Dadi." I'm unsure which is more appropriate, and this decision may impact Xiyue Dadi. I warmly welcome opinions and comments from experienced editors and native Chinese editors. Thank you. 80.217.121.29 (talk) 06:36, 23 September 2023 (UTC) — Relisting. - Support as I agree to change
Emperor Dongyue (English word+Chinese pyinyin)(changed to Donyue Dadi per Folly Mox), generally. However, 'Dongyue' means 'Eastern Peak' in English. So, I'm not sure if the title should be 'Emperor of the Eastern Peak' or 'Donyue Dadi' is more proper? . 82.209.142.239 (talk) 01:33, 12 October 2023 (UTC)

- From Google Search it looks like Emperor Dongyue has the most results (~31k) vs Dongyue Emperor (~4k) and Dongyue Dadi (~4k). Frostly (talk) 02:43, 1 October 2023 (UTC)

- Move to Dongyue Dadi over redirect. It's a small sample size, but I've found five academic sources glossing 東嶽大帝 as "Dongyue Dadi", one "Great Sovereign of the Eastern Peak", and one "Great Emperor of the Eastern Sacred Peak" (which reads as a dictionary lookup to me). The sample has been drawn from Jstor and Project Muse (no hits at Gale or Ngram). I don't really super feel like digging too much deeplier into this and may be doing an invalid extrapolation, but I would guess that most authors either transliterate the name or translate it entirely, rather than splitting it halfy-half as our current article title does.
