Queen Margaritha of Sweden
editWho is Queen Margaritha of Sweden? She apparently opened this airport but I can't find any reference to such a person. Arcturus 20:37, 26 Apr 2005 (UTC)
- From doing a little digging, I believe it is the wife of Gustav VI Adolf of Sweden (King of Sweden in 1966) who was married to Princess Margaret of Connaught until she died, and then presumably Queen Margarita following this, but I cannot find a reference to her on Wiki or the web either. Original research and unverified claims
editThere's lots of stuff in this article that is not backed up by references and reads like a personal reflection. E.g. the citation given does not support the assertion "Many feel it should be renamed again". A line like "Several announcements by various airlines were made that could have sunk the airport into crisis, but miraculously, the airport has come out slightly better off." is quite simply unsupported POV. This article needs quite a bit of cleaning up or large chunks of it will have to be removed. DrFrench 13:32, 26 May 2007 (UTC)
- I've removed some of the unsourced statements and tagged some which I feel need references. Hopefully this goes some way to addressing DrFrench's concerns. I've also tidied up the Airlines and destinations sections and removed the list of aircraft used as I'm not convinced of its value in the article. Adambro 11:50, 29 May 2007 (UTC)
- A lot of people had put a lot of work into this page and there was nothing wrong with it whatsoever. Now it has been destroyed, I hope you're pleased with yourselves. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 90.240.246.28 (talk • contribs) 12:04, 11 June 2007 (UTC)
- I'm not sure entirely what you are referring to when you suggest that the article "has been destroyed", perhaps you could outline in what ways the quality of the article has been degraded. I think I could describe myself as someone who has "put a lot of work into this page" and I'm of the opinion that recent edits have been constructive and have improved the article. In this respect I feel pleased with how this has article has progressed.
- My recent edit was intended to address some of the concerns raised by DrFrench and I believe I've done so. In particular, I removed statements that weren't supported by references or were written without adhering to Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy which is very important. Adambro 12:36, 11 June 2007 (UTC)
- I tend to agree with Adambro. I have also have made 'contsructive' edits to this article - but there was just far too much uncited information and unencyclopaedic information. I've removed some more uncited/POV/OR stuff today (following 90.240.246.28's removal of the WP:OR tag). There's still some content on the page that's a bit dubious... does something as ephemeral as a list of scheduled/charter services belong here? (See WP:NOT.) DrFrench 12:50, 11 June 2007 (UTC)
- I apologise for my comment about the article being destroyed, I wasn't thinking clearly at the time. I will now proceed to make some edits in the coming days that are appropriate. Dr French, a list of scheduled/charter airlines is fine providing it includes the destinations the airline serves, almost all Wikipedia airport articles contain this.
Overhaul
editI did a massive overhaul on this page today, everything should comply with Wikipedia rules. If anyone believes there is something that shouldn't be there, I'd appreciate it if you allowed me to edit it. Thanks. DTVAirport
Airport logo
editThe airport logo is Image:DurhamTeesValleyAirport.gif not Image:Dtv logo.gif. Please explain why the Image:DurhamTeesValleyAirport.gif should not appear in the infobox before changing it again to an image less representative of the airport. Adambro 12:50, 1 July 2007 (UTC)
- When the airport first changed it's name, the "Dtv_logo.gif" was the primary one used, and despite it being less used now than at first, it still dominates.
- I'm not sure what you mean. The airport logo is Image:DurhamTeesValleyAirport.gif not Dtv logo.gif. The image in the infobox should be the logo. I've also change the list of airlines and destinations so it doesn't take up so much space in the article, having such a long list in unnecessary. I would however welcome discussion about both these issues if you feel compelled to change them back. Adambro 22:01, 1 July 2007 (UTC)
- I also have concerns about Image:Dtv terminal.jpg which need addressing and have raised these on the uploaders talk page. Adambro 22:05, 1 July 2007 (UTC)
- Well I'm willing to back down over the airport logo, and I only changed the airlines and destinations list to make it easier on the eye, the default format is harder to read. I can't see what's wrong with the terminal front image, but if you do feel it necessary to change it, please do not use the old one, simply because there is construction equipment and even a builder visible, it would be much better to find one that was taken after completion. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 84.64.107.237 (talk • contribs) 11:28, 2 July 2007 (UTC)
- To clarify, the problem with the Image:Dtv terminal.jpg was that I am aware that the image was previously uploaded and it made it clear that User:Dtvairport was not the author. When Dtvairport uploaded this image recently, it made no mention of this and so I was concerned as to whether the author had actually released the image under the GFDL. I've now confirmed this is the case so am happy for the image to be used. It is of course better than the photo I took when the refurbishment works were still ongoing but that photo was representative of the building at the time so if there wasn't a better photo available it should be used. I returned to the airport in May of this year and took another image showing the works complete but due to the poor weather this didn't turn out as good as Image:Dtv terminal.jpg.
- Regarding the Image:Dtv logo.gif, I have deleted this again because I am doubtful that User:Dtvairport is in a position to release this image under GFDL. Adambro 17:45, 5 July 2007 (UTC)
- Stop changing the indentation of my comment above. The second paragraph is part of the same comment, made at the same time, by the same user and so should be indented by the same amount. Adambro 22:14, 9 August 2007 (UTC)
During January 2015 the airport revised the logo to an all-purple variation (see www.dtva.co.uk) of the one displayed on the Wikipedia page, is there anyway we can update the logo displayed on the Wikipedia page, I've tried and don't think I can do it? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.180.111.65 (talk) 17:21, 6 February 2016 (UTC)
Spelling of Destinations
editWhoever keeps changing the spelling of the scheduled destinations please stop. The destinations should be spelt as the airline/airport spells them, and in this case it is as follows:
- Barcelona Girona not Gerona
- Lanzarote not Arrecife
- Tenerife South not Tenerife-South
- Actually, only City Names should be used. This is common across airport articles on Wikipedia, WikiProject Airports guidelines refers. SempreVolando (talk) 10:29, 28 December 2007 (UTC)
- Well that certainly could apply in most cases, but in the case of Lanzarote, not many people know where Arrecife is, whereas Lanzarote is well known. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.67.140.8 (talk • contribs) 13:14, 31 December 2007
- That doesn't matter - for consistency with all other airport articles (which use Arrecife) this article should also spell the destination city names correctly. You could argue that "Mauritius" is better known than "Port Louis", yet it is referred to in all airport articles as "Port Louis" in the destination list (for example, on the Heathrow Airport page. SupportComment. - My reasoning is obvious given the above cites. I am aware that WP:COMMONNAME applies and most cites will refer to it as Durham Tees Valley, but for the moment it is back as TIA. Regards. The joy of all things (talk) 18:25, 25 July 2019 (UTC)- Probably too early to say but at least when the OS updates I'd support this per WP:NAMECHANGES which will probably happen. Crouch, Swale (talk) 18:53, 25 July 2019 (UTC)
- Support per nominator. Westgate29 (talk) 22:38, 31 July 2019 (UTC)
- Support move to "Teesside International Airport". The article should arguably never have been named "Durham Tees Valley" in the first place as the airport was never known as this locally. Tammbeck (talk) 10:08, 1 August 2019 (UTC)
- Oppose per nom's own comment and Crouch's; too early if this isn't what it's mostly called. Dicklyon (talk) 23:47, 10 August 2019 (UTC)
- Support per nominator. Durham Tees Valley Airport never really caught on, which is no doubt why they switched back. Johnbod (talk) 02:00, 12 August 2019 (UTC)
- Support move to “Teesside International Airport”. Yes... I think we should change the name of the airport... Rng0286 (talk) 22:40, 13 August 2019 (UTC)

It seems the previous moving of the page is what should not have been done here. Our article would have remained in the right place irrespective of the back-and-forth changes going in the airport since they cannot settle on a single name.OK, I now see the previous rename was a long time ago, I thought it was in recent years. Anyway, I support this move per the sources provided. – Ammarpad (talk) 07:36, 18 August 2019 (UTC)
