Early Jewish immigrants

edit

Creating a new article regarding Early Jewish Immigrants to New York as a way to narrow the scope of my original topic which centered around History of Jews in New York. --Anr056 (talk) 00:18, 6 November 2018 (UTC)Reply

Problems with your academic sources

edit

Glad you have a new and good topic. Your fourth source listed is not academic, which is OK, since you have 3 academic sources. However it is still better not to use internet sources. In your second source the citation is not clear. What is the title of the book? — Preceding unsigned comment added by DHertzGSR (talkcontribs) 14:35, 13 November 2018 (UTC)Reply

Finishing your article

edit

Dear Mr Rao Here are some issues to address before you publish:

titles of articles in FN should not be in caps;

you need to add categories for linkage----do you know how to do that?

I believe only one FN per sentence

need links to other articles in WP

Have you received feedback from a Wikipedian named P Rehse?

Finishing Articles - Changes Made

edit

Since reading your advice I have made the following changes:

1) The titles of the articles in the References section have been changed from all caps (wikipedia citation generator made them with all caps so I assumed that was the correct format) to the correct format.

2) I have added categories for linkage. They can be seen at the bottom of my article.

3) I have edited the in-text citations so there is only one per line of text.

4) I have added links to other wikipedia articles focusing around key words and individuals mentioned in my article.

5) I did receive feedback, basically saying that a) I needed links to other articles and b) I needed to add links to my article to other articles with similar topics so that people can more easily find this one. I have since added links to my own article to other related articles on wikipedia as well as added links on this article to connect readers to other articles that can explain key words or give additional background.

Final changes

edit

Dear Mr Rao

I think you are almost ready to launch. You have a typo or missing words in the first line of the 4th paragraph in the section "First Wave." Why is Asser Levy a short section at the end? This seems out of place. You should have 15 points so far and the last 15 points pending. DH--DHertzGSR (talk) 13:18, 27 November 2018 (UTC)Reply

Hi Professor Hertz,

I've edited the type in the first line of the 4th paragraph to adjust the typo. Asser Levy was the only one of the original 23 immigrants I could obtain any information about and even then it was relatively scarce. I've edited my phrasing so I clarify his involvement with the first wave as well as why he became an important figure. Should I remove the section entirely?
