I'd like to replace the Environmental technology template with one that matches the standard navbox style, i.e. horizontal instead of vertical, collapsing and typically placed at the bottom of article pages. I've done a mock up of what this would look like at {{User:Jwanders/ET}}. Figured this was a big enough change that I should post before going ahead with it. Please discuss here--jwandersTalk 22:03, 17 February 2008 (UTC)
Merge proposal
edit- The following discussion is closed. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section. A summary of the conclusions reached follows.
- The result of this discussion was to merge Analog forestry and Close to nature forestry into Ecoforestry. No consensus to merge Mycoforestry at this time. Charcoal feather (talk) 21:02, 12 May 2024 (UTC)
I propose merging Analog forestry and Close to nature forestry and Ecoforestry and Mycoforestry as they are quite small and seem to overlap. Is this a good idea and if so which article should I merge to? Chidgk1 (talk) 09:52, 1 May 2024 (UTC)
- support this seems like a logical merge proposal to Close to nature forestry and to Mycoforestry as the articles to 'merge to', IMO--Ozzie10aaaa (talk) 12:13, 1 May 2024 (UTC)
- @Ozzie10aaaa Err you are suggesting I should merge to 2 articles or to one of those 2? Chidgk1 (talk) 09:38, 2 May 2024 (UTC)
- it would be Analog forestry -->Close to nature forestry, and separately Ecoforestry --> Mycoforestry (I think merging all 4 together is too much, IMO)--Ozzie10aaaa (talk) 12:37, 2 May 2024 (UTC)
- Support. I would suggest merging these into Ecoforestry or Ecological forestry. DA Sonnenfeld (talk) 13:48, 1 May 2024 (UTC)
- Support (although I know hardly anything about forestry). From a quick look, I would say merge Analog forestry and Close to nature forestry into Ecoforestry but keep Mycoforestry as a separate article, as it seems to be quite a distinct topic. But I won't stand in the way of any other merging alternatives. EMsmile talk) 14:59, 1 May 2024 (UTC)
- Support merging Analog/Close to nature forestry articles into the ecoforestry article. I'm on the fence about merging mycoforestry: it might be a good idea to wait until we have done all of the more obvious merges first, and then see whether merging it here or to another article would make sense.
- Additionally, Continuous cover forestry is not mentioned in this proposal, but it seems like it would be better off either here or in forest management. InformationToKnowledge (talk) 18:48, 4 May 2024 (UTC)
- @Chidgk1 Support with the same qualifications as @EMsmile Arcade Wise (they/them) (talk) 20:30, 1 May 2024 (UTC)
- Support. I didn't even know these similar articles existed until now, but they should be merged. Final Muscid (talk) 05:30, 2 May 2024 (UTC)
- @Final Muscid to which article please? Chidgk1 (talk) 09:35, 2 May 2024 (UTC)
- Sorry for not mentioning that. I agree with EMsmile to merge Analog forestry and Close to nature forestry into Ecoforestry. Final Muscid (talk) 23:44, 2 May 2024 (UTC)
- @Final Muscid to which article please? Chidgk1 (talk) 09:35, 2 May 2024 (UTC)
Post-merge work?
editThanks for doing the merger of Analog forestry and Close to nature forestry into Ecoforestry, User:Chidgk1. What's planned for the post-merge tidying work? The structure needs to be revamped (use of standard main level headings). Do we need a section on terminology to describe similar terms, i.e. are "Analog forestry" and "Close to nature forestry" simply synonyms of Ecoforestry (if so, should they be mentioned in the first sentence in bold?)?
And the first sentence of the article needs word. It's currently this which is rather meaningless: "Ecoforestry has been defined as selection forestry or restoration forestry." EMsmile (talk) 09:17, 13 May 2024 (UTC)
