Merge with Irish constitutional plebiscite, 1937
editBoth articles are relatively short as far as text, with a small amount of duplication between them. I don't see a benefit of having them as separate articles, whereas if they're the same, a reader can easily going from the discussion and background to reading the actual results. —Iveagh Gardens (talk) 15:27, 25 May 2018 (UTC)
- Support. Probably an unintentional fork.
- The title of this article should persist since "plebicite" really only means referendum. I'm not altogether sure that "enacted" is technically correct since it is not a conventional Act of Parliament but then again it is an Act of the People (without intervention of TDs) and so is an equally valid use of the word, surely. --Red King (talk) 12:55, 30 May 2018 (UTC)
- Caution. The Republic of Ireland article has a sentence that reads Following a national referendum, on 29 December 1937 the new Constitution of Ireland (Bunreacht na hÉireann) came into force. So if the articles are merged, the plebiscite article needs to redirect to a section on the referendum specifically rather than redirect to the whole article. It would be wise to check every usage to make sure that the links still make sense. --Red King (talk) 13:24, 30 May 2018 (UTC)
- Re "enactment", would "adoption" be a better name for the article? —Iveagh Gardens (talk) 15:14, 31 May 2018 (UTC)
