AFC note

edit

Just as a note, I am accepting this as a barely-acceptable piece that is supported primarily on the collective works of one individual; that being said, there are a reasonable number of other sources, even if I think they are used in more of a promotional matter (some of which I have already removed) than anything really approaching independent coverage of the topic. I would not be surprised or upset if this page gets redirected to a more central topic (likely epistemology) or nominated for deletion. Basically, it needs improvement, but I am not quite sure if the issues that need fixing are surmountable (mainly because I'm having trouble articulating my concerns with the page). On the face of it, the definition of "epistemic insight" is clearly no different from epistemology, despite any claims otherwise made by primary sources. I think the only chance this article has of surviving is if it's shifted to focus on the project/initiative itself, which may have secondary source coverage. If no such sources exist though and the only coverage is promotional, I would support a vote for deletion. - car chasm (talk) 00:50, 22 September 2022 (UTC)Reply

Included comparison into the description to explain the insight aspect

edit

I have been trying to add some explanation about the insight aspect of Epistemic Insight in an understandable introductory way by using a comparison with insight and philosophy. I think it helps the casual encyclopedia reader to get a clearer overview right from the start. However, I encourage anyone to reword this part to address this aspect of Epistemic insight more clearly if they feel the current wording is too imprecise. 124.171.237.75 (talk) 13:46, 16 October 2022 (UTC)Reply

I have added in a link to the Wiki article on Epiphany after the mention of the 'aha' moment. It seems that Epistemic Insight differs from Epistemology as it relates not only to the philosophy of knowledge but that key epiphanic moment when the learner understands how they understand something and the diversity of ways of understanding. They do well to mention Lonergan here. I think this could be developed more in the article to allow the educational dimension rather than the philosophical to be explored. Question about banner and a possible page move

edit

(1) There have been significant changes to the page in response to the comments made on its publication by me - the page originator - an others have also made to address the issues identified. We believe that all of the issues are now addressed and that the warnings can be removed. (2) I would also like to see the page moved back to 'epistemic insight'. This is because the Epistemic Insight Initiative is a project whereas epistemic insight is a term used by educationalists and authors to refer to the learning that takes place when someone advances their understanding of how disciplines can work together. We would be grateful for these matters to considered and acted on as deemed appropriate, thank you — Preceding unsigned comment added by Summerhouse21 (talkcontribs) 22:21, 20 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
