The result of the proposal was moved. I'll leave the rescoping to more knowledgeable editors. --BDD (talk) 15:56, 18 July 2013 (UTC)
Equivalents of Duke outside Europe → Non-European royal and noble ranks – (Branch article of royal and noble ranks) – There is little reason for keeping an article handling these non-European titles as translations of the word duke into non-European languages, yet there is a lot of useful content here. Notability of Equivalents of Duke outside Europe has not been established, and I don't see any evidence of this as a notable topic independent of other equivalents of...outside Europe topics (which do not apparently exist on WP at this time), and handling these as translations of is problematic. Basically, I would ask to merge this with any other such articles if they existed, but I have been unable to find any others. I would consider the result to be a branch article of royal and noble ranks, which I feel is a more appropriate parent article (than duke) for this article as it currently exists anyway. This move would also allow for some expansion, as it is both easier (for editors) and more useful (to readers) to document non-European titles of royalty and nobility than non-European translations of the specific title of duke. - Move and rescope as per nom. Excellent idea. Red Slash 05:57, 1 July 2013 (UTC)
- Oppose make a new article instead. This article should be folded into a different new article, analogous to List of comparative military ranks (say List of comparative aristocratic titles ) -- 65.94.79.6 (talk) 07:12, 1 July 2013 (UTC)
- So, in other words, you support exactly what I said? Red Slash 05:12, 4 July 2013 (UTC)
- Support move and rescope. --Article editor (talk) 02:43, 13 July 2013 (UTC)

Feudal Japan
editIt's nice that the more modern Japanese equivalent is listed, but I think most people want to know the feudal Japanese equivalent. Would diamyo be equivalent to duke? KarstenO (talk) 16:20, 27 February 2015 (UTC)
