Sales

edit

I've changed "The game has sold over 1.7 million units as of February 2015 and over 2 million units as of April 2015." to "The game has sold over 2 million units as of April 2015.". I'm right in thinking the first figure was pointless, right? Mazz0 (talk) 14:48, 3 July 2015 (UTC)Reply

Cleanup the article

edit

Hello! After taking a look at this page I noticed that it kind of need s to be cleaned up. I have removed a giant section of Development as it violated WP:NOTCHANGELOG. Please make sure this page follows the other wikipedia guidelines. Thanks! Blaze The Wolf | Proud Furry and Wikipedia Editor (talk) 15:22, 4 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

Change table

edit

Hello! So since I"m unsure of this being an uncontroversial change I'm going to propose it. I propose we remove the Description part of the table for the map DLC and instead change it to say what countries were added (or expanded upon in the case of Vive La France and the upcoming Russia DLC) as I feel in that way it would more easily convey what the DLC added. If there are some details in the Description that might be important to keep then I'd like to hear what they are so we could possibly find another way to include that info. ― Blaze The WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 14:50, 4 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

So since I"m unsure of this being an uncontroversial change I'm going to propose it. — You can just WP:BEBOLD and make the edits. A discussion is only needed if someone reverts you. What you're suggesting is really not that controversial or difficult to undo as something like moving pages. TarkusABtalk/contrib 19:17, 8 November 2021 (UTC)Reply
Ah ok. Thanks for answering my concern! I'll work on that now. ― Blaze The WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 19:45, 8 November 2021 (UTC)Reply
@TarkusAB: Hey! I've finished the table and would like to know if there's anything you think I should change before I add it to the article. This is what the table looks like:

The map isn't quite right either, since Spain, Portugal, the European part of Turkey and a small chunk of Russia around St. Petersburg are now available in various DLCs while Northern Ireland and the northern parts of Norway, Sweden and Finland are not, or at least not from SCS. Mr Larrington (talk) 01:08, 16 November 2021 (UTC)Reply
@Mr Larrington: I know the map isn't up to date. Also we are counting entire countries, not specific parts of it since that's just easier. I would ask the user in charge of updating the map to highlight Russia however it's not fully available (only a small little bit). ― Blaze The WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 01:18, 16 November 2021 (UTC)Reply
I would just change the header on the third column to something more specific. A reader may interpret it as the country the DLC was released in. Maybe change to "Country roadways featured", or "Countries included", or something like that. TarkusABtalk/contrib 23:37, 18 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

Condensing the DLC

edit

Hello! So I think it would be a good idea to either remove or condense the section about DLC as it's rather lengthy and I don't really think each DLC deserves it's own subheading (besides maybe the map DLC). What do you guys think? ― Blaze The WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 18:13, 17 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

I agree. However, removing this entirely, in my opinion is not the best method. This should still be included with references under a single subheading and become condensed to few succinct paragraphs. Kmlbon (talk) 12:39, 14 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
also, detail should remain across the page (say someone never played this or similar games before and saw this article), but condensed - that's a fair evaluation. Kmlbon (talk) 15:00, 14 June 2022 (UTC)Reply

Northern Scandinavia DLC

edit

I have seen the live stream that they are teasing images of Northern Scandinavia DLC.

How can we decrease the amount of primary sources ...

edit

... when the SCS blog is the prime and only information source for certain references for ETS2? Soybean46 (talk) 14:40, 13 October 2023 (UTC)Reply

Probably just searching "ETS2 DLC X" and then filtering for news. The SCS blog is a good placeholder because (to my knowledge) all of the references that cite the blog comply with Wikipedia:No original research. CommissarDoggo (talk) 19:13, 13 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
I'll take a quick run through of the various sources citing the SCS blog and see if they can be replaced. CommissarDoggo (talk) 19:18, 13 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
that's it. does anyone have time to do it? I can try, I don't have the time though. Soybean46 (talk) 22:56, 29 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

Photographs

edit

Think this article can be enhanced with the lengthy section of map updates having some kind of photograph of one of the screenshots from the updated map area. What is the Wikimedia/Wikipedia policy on image sources? Quite fresh to this! Soybean46 (talk) 22:58, 29 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

The general policy is screenshots = bad. Take a look at this for more. You'd have to find images free of copyright, which is exactly why the photos selection is so limited at the moment. CommissarDoggoTalk? 23:08, 29 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

Trucks table

edit

I propose to remove this as a table, and back into a section of paragraphs still citing sources. The table isn't very readable, and its getting quite long. Maybe an alternative idea is available. The table can be expanded in width, but can't be condensed length-wise, something paragraphs can help with. Soybean46 (talk) 22:59, 29 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

The alternative of having it be paragraphs would create a bit of an information overload, as that would then require inserting information about the trucks and their inclusion into the game instead of just "here's a company, here's the trucks they have in game, and here's the references for their addition." Although the table is expanding in length, it's doing so at an absolute snails pace and is currently the best option - at least in my mind. CommissarDoggoTalk? 23:11, 29 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

countries available

edit

hello im not an editor but i remembered last time there was a map of europe which showed countries included and which aren't in ets2. where did that image go because i find it quite useful i think it should be reinstated 2406:3003:2002:2D79:95ED:4D50:C743:158D (talk) 12:21, 5 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

Our records show that Soetermans removed the section, citing WP:NOTGAMEGUIDE and WP:NOTCATALOG. But I agree that a summary coverage map and the list of map DLCs should be included, if there are reliable sources for that. --Minoa (talk) 17:17, 23 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
The content in question was sourced entirely to primary sources with no secondary coverage. If that sourcing exists, no one has yet to present it. -- ferret (talk) 17:27, 23 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
