This page should not be speedy deleted as an unambiguous copyright infringement, because... (this is my first article and don't have experience with wikipedia yet. That is why i am doing it very slowly and trying to focus on content. I am copying it from our internal documents and website which is not yet published in full version (existing site is only test edition). Since our new website "outweb.tvz.hr/~esi" is in process of design, the documents are not yet live at "eug2016.com" (only part of them). That is why I cannot qoute them properly YET- But I will as soon as we publish new site. I can only put "eug2016.com" but not on all since most of it is still unpublished anywhere on internet. If needed, I can confirm official identity of me representing organization via official email info@eug2016.com. Please have understanding. Thank you) --EUG2016 (talk) 15:17, 26 February 2015 (UTC)Reply

Unfortunately, Wikipedia is not a website for promotion. Also, if you are being paid to create this, or any article, you must disclose it on your Wikipedia user page. Please read Terms of use/FAQ on paid contributions without disclosure.- MrX 16:19, 26 February 2015 (UTC)Reply

This page is not unambiguously promotional, because... (I really understand you but tihs is not promoting organization in the way that we are promoting something in order to make primarly profit. This is European Universiade - sports event which I am in organizational comitee. You have page of all Universiades on wikipedia, as you have of European Universities Games 2012, which were held 4 years ago in Cordoba. I am just trying to make more detailed and understandable page. If I am doing something wrong, please help me... I mean, there are pages for Olympics, World cups, National cups... This is sports event which is to be held. If this was about my privately owned company, etc, your point would be right and I wouldn't complain, but this way i really don't understand - especially because it is not yet fully over and because like you didn0't even read the first post. This article will be made anyway by someone inf uture because it is major event. Someone will make it with wrong info and badly. As a representative of comitee, I am tryong to make it as good as I can with entire story. Why am I being stopped? Please respond and explain so I know what is happening. Thank you,) --EUG2016 (talk) 16:39, 26 February 2015 (UTC)Reply

The main problem was that we didn't know who made the first version of this page, so it looked like a copy of other sites. It's surprisingly common for people to write bad/copied articles, and then not improve them, but this wasn't the case here. It's now been rewritten so it's better, and is in my opinion fine for a Wikipedia article. The other issue with this page is that you were deleting the speedy delete tags, which as author of page, you are not allowed to do.
In future, I would recommend writing new articles in your sandbox, and then creating it after it meets Wikipedia standards. Joseph2302 (talk) 20:23, 26 February 2015 (UTC)Reply

I'm personally satisfied that the article is not complete advertising. However, I would like to see more references, in particular, third-party references, as all the current references appear to be from the official website. Joseph2302 (talk) 18:23, 26 February 2015 (UTC)Reply

Also, I'll probably have a proper look at it tomorrow, and might make a few edits to the page, predominantly I'll be looking to add some secondary sources. Joseph2302 (talk) 20:35, 26 February 2015 (UTC)Reply

So, I changed the article a bit, to make it more Wiki-friendly. It was okay to begin with, but these changes have improved it by using some Wikipedia standards.

References: Added more secondary sources. Also, changed the bare URLs (just had url listed) to proper citations, with url/title/publisher/date/accessdate/language parameters.

Infobox: Changed EU/Europe flag to Europe, Wikipedia doesn't like flags being used instead of country names. Rest is good.

Lead section: There should be a lead section, summarising the article. I slightly rewrote the European Universities Games section, to make it into the lead article, and only kept information relevant to this event (other EUG information should be on their articles/a EUG article).

Bids section: Added references, wrote in own words to avoid copyright issues, added details of Portuguese delegation as well (in interests of neutrality).

Croatia Sports: Moved this up the article, as it's linked to the bids section.

Sports: 3x3 basketball added link to variations sections of Basketball, linked to Association football rather than a generic page on all the sports with football in the name.

Motto/Logo: Seems fine to me.

I'm also about to link this page on the 2012 EUG and EUSA pages, then I can remove the tag at the top of the article. Joseph2302 (talk) 12:00, 27 February 2015 (UTC)Reply

As this was already in Category:July 2016 sports events in Europe, I have removed it from Category:July 2016 events in Europe. The latter is a sub-category of the former and I do not think it needs to be in both. Dunarc (talk) 23:53, 10 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
