The result of the move request was: MOved to FC Spartak Vladikavkaz — Amakuru (talk) 13:02, 5 August 2016 (UTC)
FC Alania Vladikavkaz → ? – For the 2016-17 season, there will be no team with the name 'FC Alania Vladikavkaz' in the Russian Professional Football League, the formally new team was organized and licensed under the name FC Spartak Vladikavkaz: http://www.championat.com/football/news-2509540-v-pervenstvo-pfl-budet-zajavlen-spartak-iz-vladikavkaza.html This is a bit of formality and technicality as it still will be owned by the local provincial government and the only reason there is no word "Alania" in the name is that the owners do not want to pay accumulated debts and they don't want the new club to be responsible for said debt. The new club will most likely be claiming the history of FC Alania Vladikavkaz, if not pay their debts. FC Alania Vladikavkaz was known in the past as FC Spartak Vladikavkaz and the redirect from FC Spartak Vladikavkaz to FC Alania Vladikavkaz currently exists. To complicate things, another Vladikavkaz team was called FC Spartak Vladikavkaz for one year only, see FC Spartak Vladikavkaz (2008). So I am not sure how best to proceed - create a completely new page for the formally "new" club organized in 2016 that will replace the current redirect for FC Spartak Vladikavkaz? Then every page that links to the "FC Spartak Vladikavkaz" redirect would have to be edited to point to FC Alania Vladikavkaz instead - you don't want a person clicking on the team name in some 1990s player's biography and getting to the 2016 club team's page. Call the new team's page FC Spartak Vladikavkaz (2016)? Not very convenient either. Any thoughts? Geregen2 (talk) 16:13, 20 July 2016 (UTC) --Relisting for needed feedback — Andy W. (talk · ctb) 21:33, 27 July 2016 (UTC)
- Ok, no ideas appeared so far, so I think we should just move this article to FC Spartak Vladikavkaz (replacing the redirect that is currently in that spot) and add the explanation for the name change within the article text itself. Would probably be the cleanest. Geregen2 (talk) 08:20, 31 July 2016 (UTC)

Requested move 17 October 2021
edit- The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review after discussing it on the closer's talk page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.
The result of the move request was: No consensus - There is no consensus here about whether this is an appropriate move or not. Particularly the relationship between the different teams is disputed. Given that the discussion has now run for more than a month and the latest comment appears to cast doubt on the move there is no need to let this run longer. The close is without prejudice to a further re-opening of the discussion once the relationship between the teams is more clearly documented. - FC Spartak Vladikavkaz → FC Alania Vladikavkaz
- FC Alania Vladikavkaz (2019) → FC Spartak Vladikavkaz (2019)
– To bring the pages into consistency with Russian wiki. The continuity between the two clubs is not clear and some sources contradict the others, but the Russian FOOTY community had a detailed discussion over this and a consensus was reached to separate Spartak Vladikavkaz performing in 2019/20 season from the rest. (I personally agree with the desicion). TLDR: the club (1995 Russian champions) was known for many years as either Spartak or Alania. In 2016 Alania was dissolved as a legal entity and Spartak was created as a successor. In 2019 Alania was reformed and took Spartak's head coach and most of the players. Spartak, however, continued playing simultaneously with Alania for one more season (19/20, which was cut short due to COVID) with almost all-new squad (youngsters) and disbanded in spring 2020. The proposed changes are supported by team's history outline on Alania website, and by some of the football stats websites (like Soccerway). - Comment - what is the current name of the existing club? It is not clear. GiantSnowman 11:35, 18 October 2021 (UTC)
- Current name is Alania, they play in FNL (Russian 2nd level). Spartak is defunct. --BlameRuiner (talk) 14:34, 18 October 2021 (UTC)
- If the current name of the existing club is 'FC Alania Vladikavkaz', then that article should remain at some form of 'FC Alania Vladikavkaz', and if the defunct club was most well known as 'FC Alania Vladikavkaz', it should also be at some form of the same.
- Following the examples in the UK of Accrington Stanley F.C. (1891) (defunct) and Accrington Stanley F.C. (current), or Airdrieonians F.C. (1878) (defunct) and Airdrieonians F.C. (current), I suggest the articles are moved to FC Alania Vladikavkaz (1921) (with a redirect at FC Spartak Vladikavkaz (1921)) for the defunct club, and FC Alania Vladikavkaz (with a redirect at FC Spartak Vladikavkaz) for the current club. GiantSnowman 21:03, 18 October 2021 (UTC)
- If we're to accept my proposal, then the defunct club was never known as Alania, they only existed for 1 season as Spartak. It's only the old club (that still exists) that was known by multiple names. --BlameRuiner (talk) 21:44, 18 October 2021 (UTC)

- Move FC Alania Vladikavkaz (2019) to FC Alania Vladikavkaz and move FC Spartak Vladikavkaz to FC Spartak Vladikavkaz (1921) more or less per GiantSnowman. — Amakuru (talk) 11:23, 15 November 2021 (UTC)
- My proposal is not just mere renaming articles, but also moving the whole post-2019 history to the old original club, so that there is once club with single uninterrupted history (1921 through now) and a club that only existed for 1 season (Spartak 2019). Hence, no need for (1921) disambig. The example with Scottish clubs that @GiantSnowman: provided is frankly weird to me. Why aren't they treated like Rangers case? Or do they themselves not acknowledge the continuity? Anyway, my understanding is that wiki should treat such cases on a de-facto basis rather than de-jure, and the common opinion in Russia is that current Alania is the one that existed since 1921. --BlameRuiner (talk) 09:05, 16 November 2021 (UTC)
- Because Rangers did not go out of existence and then re-form years later, IIRC. GiantSnowman 18:15, 16 November 2021 (UTC)

- Comment I am afraid the Russian wiki is wrong. This club (6386) was last in ПФЛ 19/20 and the newly formed Alania was promoted. This club was named Spartak from 2016 to 2020 (and before), so maybe the page could stay named that way? Ludost Mlačani (talk) 10:34, 22 November 2021 (UTC)
