Colors

edit

The Fairview colors are only red and white. Black is not an official school color. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 184.96.35.133 (talk) 03:10, 12 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

So there's another building built around hexagons... 68.39.174.238 06:37, 19 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

"...but is only one of two in the nation which allows students to choose for themselves whether or not they want to participate in the program."
Is this really accurate? I know for a fact that Poudre High School also allows students to choose to participate, i believe it is highly unlikely that there are only two schools that offer this program. --Variable Z 00:10, 18 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

I agree that this is probably false. My school (Niwot High School) also allows students to decided whether or not they want to attempt the IB diploma. Perhaps the author meant that the students have a choice of only attempting to get the certificates without a diploma. I'm removing that sentence from the article. --Hell0DotCom 22:48, 18 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

"...including two years of preparatory, or PIB (pre-IB) classes, are needed to receive the full diploma."
This also may be false. As far as I know, pre-IB is not one of IBO's requirements for attaining the diploma. I believe pre-IB is merely a two year curriculum of honors classes that many high schools offer independent of IBO. The IB Diploma Programme article seems to confirm this. I will fix this. --Hell0DotCom 22:57, 18 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

full of yourself

edit

it would seem that the entire tone of this article is talking about how great fairveiw is. how great its band is, how great its athletics are, how great its acedemics are. the tone definately seems biased —Preceding unsigned comment added by 161.97.202.211 (talk) 15:46, 19 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

totally agree, feel free to edit it constructively to make it non-biased, however, so far, all of the edits from IP addresses close to yours have been clearly biased against the school.

I removed one peacock term, but the whole tone of the article needs revision, more than I can do. --DThomsen8 (talk) 02:44, 18 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

I came to this article at random, knowing nothing previously about the school, and I don't find the overall tone very objectionable. There are a few things that could be worded with a more neutral tone, true, but telling the positive achievements of the school and its students is what makes the school notable (WP:N). It seems to me that this is appropriate for an article about a public school. I do see two other related problems though:

  • many of the achievements etc. are given without citations, so that looks like someone was reporting from their own personal experience (contra WP:NOR)
  • some of the achievements are written in a way that presupposes a particular date of composition, e.g. expressions like "in the top three the past five years" are not helpful when the reader doesn't know when the sentence was written.

Students

edit

Lots of famous students are mentioned... should we list them in a bulleted list?

  • Yes?
  • No?

DangApricot 19:27, 18 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

I say yes, and went ahead to do so. AlbertBickford (talk) 07:18, 17 November 2012 (UTC)Reply

Question

edit

Anybody know when the school was founded... —Preceding unsigned comment added by Kangshifu (talkcontribs) 02:24, 6 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

All that I know is that the school was originally at Platt Middle School prior to moving to the current building.--Kyle(talk) 03:35, 6 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Athletic accolades

edit

In this article writers claim Fairview has won state championships, but, of course, without citation. For example, in this sentence,

Girls' cross country has won two state titles in the past six years and have placed in the top five in other years.

There is no source. On CHSAANow.com, Fairview girls' cross-country results the past six years are thus. 2012, 4th; 2011, 9th; 2010, 11th; 2009, 15th; 2008, 14th. Official results in contradiction to the claim. I wonder if the other claims below in swimming, soccer, and so on are also mangled. Someone please confirm whether my data are correct.
