Fall River, Massachusetts

edit

Shouldn't "Fall River" redirect to Fall River, Massachusetts, with a hatnote to a disambiguation page, as is the case with Pittsfield, Massachusetts? No other cities on this page are nearly as notable as the MA city, and almost all links at Special:Whatlinkshere/Fall River point to Fall River, MA. Does anyone else agree that this page should be moved? Cheers, Rai-me 01:29, 22 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

As the links point to the Massachusetts city, and it is by far the most populated and historically significant place on the dab page, I have decided to be WP:BOLD and redirect "Fall River" to Fall River, Massachusetts, renaming the dab page Fall River (disambiguation). I also performed a Google serach, and nearly all results point to the MA city. Cheers, Rai-me 15:04, 22 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Fall River (disambiguation)Fall River – It's been 15 years since this was last discussed and there are now many more "Fall River" articles. Unlike pages like Pittsfield which point to the most populated place with that proper name, "Fall River" is a fairly generic river name. There are many articles on rivers with that name which have nothing to do with the Massachusetts city—it's this component which I think makes it important not to assume that people around the world will automatically think of one city when reading "Fall River". I've already disambiguated all the links to Fall River so the move will not cause issues. Some of the links incorrectly pointed to the Massachusetts city when they should have pointed to other articles, so the move should also avoid these such issues in the future.
