Rename
editThis page has been renamed Epigynous berry from False berry. All previous talk was concerned with confusion over the old name rather than about the substance of the article. Old talk has been archived here Talk:Epigynous berry/old title.Meggar 02:44, 1 December 2006 (UTC)
The chart here conflicts with the chart on Berry - notably, there Banana is a common berry / true berry, but here it's a common non-berry / false berry. 14:31, 29 July 2007 (UTC)
Plain language addition needed
editAs it stands this article is a fairly useless technical stub. After looking it over, I have no idea what the difference is between a true and false berry. It needs a big addition by someone who really understands the concept and also understands the needs of an ordinary reader. -69.87.203.227 14:25, 28 October 2007 (UTC)
Useless technical stub indeed. I'm a botanist, and I've never heard the term "false berry" before. I understand what an epigynous berry is, but I'm not sure how to put it in any plainer language than is already in the article. At any rate, this is NOT a distinction most botanists would bother with (I looked through 5 floras I had at hand, all of which described Vaccinium fruits (blueberries) as "berries"). I'm bothered by the fruit types table at the bottom. This basically only has "layman's" fruits. No capsules, siliques, legumes, etc. I'm hesitant to edit the table myself, since I'm not sure how exhaustively fruit types should be listed.63.78.97.2 17:29, 6 November 2007 (UTC)
