FargoFargo (disambiguation) — I would like to move this page to Fargo (disambiguation) so that Fargo can be redirected to the city in North Dakota, which seems to me to be the primary topic.--D O N D E groovily Talk to me 06:01, 20 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

Fargo, North Dakota is probably the most notable of the topics, but Fargo (film) has twice as many page views, and several links to the disambiguation page are intended to refer to the film. Recentism can affect results, but the film was released almost 15 years ago, so its notability is likely to last - so possibly no primary topic. Peter E. True, but keep in mind that the film is named after the city and not the other way around. Naming other stuff after it indicates primary topic. D O N D E groovily Talk to me 23:01, 20 February 2011 (UTC)Reply
Boston was named after Boston, Lincolnshire. Peter E. James (talk) 23:07, 20 February 2011 (UTC)Reply
Boston Baked Beans, Boston Red Sox, Boston Tea Party, Boston Marathon, Boston Market, Boston Pizza, and USS Boston are not named after Boston, Lincolnshire. D O N D E groovily Talk to me 16:15, 21 February 2011 (UTC)Reply
There's more to primary topic than pageviews. Despite the much higher page views, Android (operating system) has not replaced Android (robot) as a primary topic. There are plenty of good arguments for the robot that has fewer pageviews. D O N D E groovily Talk to me 02:20, 21 February 2011 (UTC)Reply
Neither of those is considered the primary topic: Android is a dab page. It should be the same with Fargo. Ucucha 13:48, 21 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

Rearrangement of the page

edit

I've moved the two most common uses of the term Fargo (film) and Fargo, North Dakota to the top. I don't know if there's a precedent for this or not, but I don't care; if there isn't I'm creating one. Disambig pages are supposed to help people find their way around, and this should make things a lot more convenient for most users. Regards, --Quintucket (talk) 23:40, 8 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

I just realized that America actually does have a similar setup, the big difference being that as the two main uses are locations, "other locations" comes before all other uses. I haven't done that, but I've otherwise arranged it to fit with that page's setup. --Quintucket (talk) 23:49, 8 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

Lakota Word?

edit

I'm watching the documentary Lakota Nation vs. United States; at about the 1:35:00 mark an elder American Indian woman says Lakota means "frozen tundra or Fargo". Googling this information is impossible, between the city and the movie/TV series, even the Oxford English dictionary only defines Fargo as a city. So I'm not sure where else to put out a call for sources or citations for what does the Lakota word Fargo actually mean. I think it deserves to be a part of several different Wikipedia pages.
