Oppose for Felix Debax, per the source used in the article (compare with André Lacroix, for example. Can you summarise the policies you've linked to that relates to this specific issue of e vs. é? Thanks. Lugnuts (talk) 13:33, 13 July 2012 (UTC)
- Hi Lugnuts, fair question: the summary of WP:FRMOS is "French proper names and expressions should respect the use of accents and ligatures in French." and the summary of WP:IRS is "best such sources" "reliable for the statement being made" + by "all the usual" I mean WP:UE particularly (..to constitute an established usage, follow the conventions of the language appropriate to the subject (German for German politicians,...) WP:MOSPN WP:NCP WP:EN all of which indicate examples of using accents.
- The sources are: (i) Journal officiel de la République française 1885 which records a medal to "M. Debax (Félix), à Toulouse.", (ii) the Sveriges statskalender which records "Debax, Félix Lucien Roger," (iii) his military memorial DEBAX, Félix Lucien Roger indicates his name. Unfortunately I don't know enough about French military to bluelink "bataillon au 240e RI" into the bio.
- Do you still oppose? In ictu oculi (talk) 16:16, 13 July 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks for the reply (and adding the sources to the article in question). I no longer oppose this. Infact, I'll be bold and move it anyway. Thanks again! Lugnuts (talk) 17:45, 13 July 2012 (UTC)
