Perhaps editor Nasir Ghobar can explain why he removed,History of Pakistan,History of India,History of Iran, History of Afghanistan and History of Central Asia, under the misleading heading of "Clean up".[1] I see no reasoning for the removal of these links. --Kansas Bear (talk) 18:47, 30 June 2012 (UTC)Reply

Pretty general and useless links, unless they fit some particular need within the article. — LlywelynII 19:04, 12 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

what does the article think the difference between "Ghazna" and "Ghanzi" is? If they both refer to the city, use one form. If they don't, clarify that. — LlywelynII 19:05, 12 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

@LlywelynII Replaced all mentions of Ghazna to Ghazni. Noorullah (talk) 19:40, 12 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

Are you sure Sabuktigin used the title of "Amir"? It's currently unsourced, and even his Iranica article doesn't mention it. I find it a bit odd that he would have used the same title as his Samanid suzerains. --HistoryofIran (talk) 23:27, 26 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

Added the source for Amir. Amir Ghandi (talk) 11:29, 27 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
Just read some of The Ghaznavids: Their Empire in Afghanistan and Eastern Iran, seems like "amir" was a common title even amongst the Samanids and local rulers/governors. The info about Sabuktigin being amir does not appear in the body of the article, which it should, so the citation in the lede also can get removed. This info, written by Bosworth, will fit well in the article [2] HistoryofIran (talk) 01:06, 2 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
Added the information, any thoughts?

  • Are you sure that Sabuktigin believed in the Karramiyya school? I couldn't find anything on the cited page. Also, I think it would be good to have a short mention of Sabuktigin being Sunni Muslim in the body of the article. --HistoryofIran (talk) 15:15, 16 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
My bad, the actual page was 186. Also, added some information about his conversion to Karramiyya in the Administration section. Amir Ghandi (talk) 20:45, 16 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

Looks good. I'm surprised you didn't use The Ghaznavids: Their Empire in Afghanistan and Eastern Iran, 994-1040 by Bosworth, it has a lot of info, and written late in his career when he was practically the face of Medieval Islamic history. I've uploaded it here if you're interested [3] (Ctrl + F "ktigin" if you want every mention of him to appear). --HistoryofIran (talk) 23:27, 26 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the link. I replaced most of the references to his thesis with the book. Amir Ghandi (talk) Amir Ghandi (talk) 11:53, 27 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
Oh, I thought the work was created much later than 1963. Anyways, good to see that preferred over a thesis. HistoryofIran (talk) 12:34, 27 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

Sorry for the lack of communication and long wait time. I’ve not been at home for a week. I’m back tommorow, and I’ll have it completed before the week ends. HistoryofIran (talk) 15:01, 14 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
