The original flag was designed by painter Quamrul Hassan. (???!!!)

SVG replacement

If you find a flaw in one of our SVG images, please correct it, but do not continue using out-of-date images. All png flags are supposed to be replaced by svg flags.

I would like to but I'm not an image editor. I hope you can address the flaw that I've stated. The svg image is not an accurate depiction so I suggest you change it accordingly or until we get the correct version we should wait. Idleguy 16:59, 3 December 2005 (UTC)

green

"traditional colour of Islam."!!!! Please support this by references.--ppm 04:57, 11 May 2006 (UTC)

tradition holds it was the favourite colour of muhammad. i don't think that is relevant here. --Yung Wei永徽
True, and as a Bangladeshi, I can definitely attest to the fact that the Green color represents the lushness of the Bengal country side. It has nothing to do with any religion. In fact, the flag was designed by the secular artist Quamrul Hassan, so there is little doubt as to what the green color represents. The CIA factbook has been stating this misinformation since 1997, but this simply is not true. --Ragib 18:49, 17 August 2006 (UTC)

sun or no sun?

does the red disc or does it not represent the sun? --Gnom (talk) 00:47, 20 January 2008 (UTC)

Yes, it does. --Ragib (talk) 02:03, 20 January 2008 (UTC)

Official specifications, Red in Middle?

Any one please verify if the red is in middle? As far I know, it is slight left sided... Bauani (talk) 15:17, 15 December 2008 (UTC)

Well, the article *does* specify it exactly, see official specs section: "The red circle will have a radius of one-fifth of the length of the flag. Its centre will be placed on the intersecting point of the perpendicular drawn from the nine-twentieth part of the length of the flag, and the horizontal line drawn through the middle of its width." --Ragib (talk) 15:22, 15 December 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for the reply. I was in rush and missed the 2nd specification. Changing from "in the middle" to "Near Middle". Bauani (talk) 15:29, 15 December 2008 (UTC)

If it weren't for the fact that this flag probably wasn't just made when the developers of it just splashed some green paint on a Japanese flag, I would almost wonder why Japan hasn't tried to sue them for it. However, its resemblance is alarming. 'Course, at that rate, there's what, 15 different countries that use different variations of red, green and white? Makes me wonder why people can't possibly be any more creative. ArchabacteriaNematoda (talk) 05:49, 5 June 2010 (UTC)

It's hard to apply the concept of "copyright infringement" to very simplistic flag designs, and where each country dictates the laws that apply within its own borders. However, something like this is sometimes an issue with respect to the flags of Romania and Chad, and the first flag of the independent republic of Macedonia was forced out use due to concerns about effectively irredentist symbolism... The hoisting of the flag

The article states that Sheikh Mujib hoisted the flag at his residence on March 26, 1971. But that's IMPOSSIBLE. He was arrested on March 25, 1971 BEFORE midnight, and his disputed declaration of independence was only heard through the EPR radio lines. He was captive on March 26, 1971. The first flag lifting place and the memorial mural

Recently a mural has been placed there. uploaded image can be found here http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Shangrami_Chetona_-_DU_-_Ashfaq.jpg . If found suitable, can be added to the article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Aqudit (talkcontribs) 03:35, 8 October 2012 (UTC)

"The map"

The article twice mentions that "the map was later removed from the flag", but never once mentions which map it was in the first place. JIP | Talk 14:12, 28 June 2013 (UTC)

The flag of Bangladesh used to have a yellow map of the country inside the red disk (see File:Flag of Bangladesh (1971).svg); FotW has information on this flag. I'm surprised the article doesn't include an image of it yet. SiBr4 (talk) 15:17, 28 June 2013 (UTC)
