No longer supported?
editAccording to https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/firefox/addon/flashblock/ Flashblock is no longer supported by the latest version of Firefox. I'd be happy to update this page with a nod of approval from others. Kapanka (talk) 00:24, 9 December 2015 (UTC)
Downloading or not?
editThe article currently claims that Flashblock stops Flash from being displayed, not from being downloaded. The citation that supports this claim is a FAQ entry on the Flashblock website that states that Flashblock does not block Flash cookies. Though I agree that this FAQ entry does imply that Flashblock probably only blocks displaying Flash, not downloading Flash, it is not the same claim. Moreover, at http://flashblock.mozdev.org/index.html at the very top it is claimed that "Flashblock... blocks ALL Flash content from loading. It then leaves placeholders on the webpage that allow you to click to download and then view the Flash content." This is a very explicit claim which contradicts the claim in this article. What is the truth? Also, are there any third-party sources to substantiate either of these claims? Boris Bukh (talk) 16:29, 18 April 2009 (UTC)
- When I load http://www.youtube.com an SWF-File is loaded and also code is executed in the browser which tries to open Flash_Player/#Security/FlashAuthor.cfg. Hence flashblock neither stops Flash from being downloaded nor from (at least partially) being executed. --87.183.183.141 (talk) 14:43, 10 August 2011 (UTC)
Java applets
editAccording to http://flashblock.mozdev.org/faq.html#fbJava flash-block does not work for java applets (it does also say that it is not a planned feature, which is apparently outdated information. The source mentioned in the wikipedia article mentions it being introduced from version 1.8, however this is a development version. The current release version is 1.5.15.1 (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/flashblock/?src=search). Therefore I think the article should either mentioned java support being planned, or not mention it at all until the next release version. PinkShinyRose (talk) 14:41, 8 March 2012 (UTC)
