Illustrations would be nice, or photos. Also, how about some info on the Air Force service dress??

This article could do with some more information about dress uniforms outside the U.S. Isnt there a large variety of them in Europe? I know various regiments in Britain have fairly fancy ones, some with kilts even. 67.182.109.94 16:11, 27 August 2006 (UTC)

While dress uniform article needs more illustrations a photo of a Swedish naval uniform does not seem to have any relevance to the existing content.

Well...I've added a chunk of text on British Army dress uniforms, if that's any help. Actually, most of the unique colourful uniforms the British Army was known for, especially the red tunics that had been worn by infantry regiments, are history, now. Aodhdubh 00:24, 15 November 2006 (UTC)

Latin American dress uniforms

The main article could be improved if there were a paragraph or two on dress uniforms in Latin America.

The caption for the Israeli Vice Admiral at the bottom is erronous. An officer's rank is always worn on the bottom of the sleeve in the "Dress Blue" uniform. This is a standard for all navies. Thank goodness this article tells me how to convert words into acronyms... "Battle Dress (BD)", "Battle Dress Uniform (BDU)". Equivalence with mess dress uniform, and service dress uniform. Instead of alternative dress uniform, this article should be full dress uniform per both equivalence with forementioned as well as per WP:PRECISION. Chicbyaccident (talk) 20:07, 21 December 2018 (UTC)

Varying examples of U.S. "dress blues"?

Do all variants of ther U.S. "dress blues" pertain to the dress code "full dress", thus full dress uniform? Are there no ones that in in fact more ressemble service dress uniforms? If so, should that be made clearer or even some contents moved to service dress uniform? PPEMES (talk) 14:03, 1 June 2019 (UTC)

The US Army dress blues should be in service dress (they're described as service uniforms in Army regs). That said, as far as I'm aware, the US Army did have full-dress uniform, but that was all pre-World War I (plus present select units here and there, so US Army content should be on that). So I'd support moving the Army and USAF blue dress content to the service dress article (also during the move the US Army part should probably be updated, cause their service uniforms are changing to Army greens in the next year). But the US Navy do have a ceremonial full dress (which includes a variant of dress blues). Leventio (talk) 19:16, 3 June 2019 (UTC)

Saving for the reservations you made, as well as at least the U.S. honour guards do which indeed seem to wear full dress uniforms, if those were not included in your reservations? So I updated the content to reflect the service's full dress/ceremonial uniforms. That said, I didn't move the service uniform content to the service uniform article, as it seemed to be more of a general article, with lists to more specific national articles. Thank you! As for service dress uniform, why don't you proceed with including said contents there despite no other country details are listed yet per WP:NOTFINISHED? Alrighty then. I added the service uniform content into that article. With regards to Israel, most of the Israeli content appears to be "service dress," but there is some bits there that that is probably more relevant here (they do have a "dress uniform" thats based off the service dress). That said, I can't find a reliable English source describing either uniforms (I'd imagine that reliable sources would be in Hebrew), so to be honest, I really can't do that move with confidence that I'm moving the right content. Full dress and mess dress uniforms

I have made a few amendments to the lede section of this article, where there appears to be some confusion between full dress and mess dress. The former generally refers to parade ground or other ceremonial attire and is quite distinct from the evening or mess dress worn for dinners, weddings, dances etc. Accordingly bow ties, dress shirts etc, while often part of the uniform for social occasions, would not be seen as part of full dress as defined in most modern armies and illustrated in this article. United Kingdom section Royal Marines

That section so far, only covers Number 1 Full Dress worn by the band. It would be helpful if the first line made it clear that the rest of the RM has Number 1A Regimental Blues Dress - 'Blues'.
