It was proposed in this section that Gelson (Angolan footballer) be renamed and moved to Gelson (footballer, born 1996).
result: This is template {{subst:Requested move/end}} |
Gelson (Angolan footballer) → Gelson (footballer, born 1996) – It is standard to disambiguate by year of birth, and not nationality (which is a social construct). MonFrontieres (talk) 15:15, 29 September 2020 (UTC)
- Support Gelson Dala as most of the references seem to list him with his last name and it's a cleaner disambiguation.--Ortizesp (talk) 21:38, 29 September 2020 (UTC)

- Oppose. Nationality is a standard disambiguator per Wikipedia:Naming conventions (sportspeople)#Association football (soccer) and, in line with the recognizability criterion of Wikipedia:Article titles, is more likely to be known by searchers. Per Wikipedia:Naming conventions (people)#Disambiguating: "Years of birth and death are not normally used as disambiguators (readers are more likely to be seeking this information than to already know it)". Years of birth are only used when there is no other reasonable disambiguator, such as when people of the same name have the same profession and nationality. DrKay (talk) 12:59, 4 October 2020 (UTC)
- Comment: @Ortizesp: is right. He is known as Gelson Dala by both Rio Ave FC (his current club) and the Angolan Football Federation (FAF; he plays for the Angola NT). Sources: Rio Ave FC, FAF. So, yes, it would be better if the article name is moved to Gelson Dala (instead of Gelson (footballer, born 1996) that by the way generates a convention conflict here with other users).--MonFrontieres (talk) 15:52, 4 October 2020 (UTC)
