Talk:Geological and geophysical engineering

Merge with Engineering Geology

edit

Hi Folks, there is a similar page: Engineering geology. Should be this page merged with the other one? — Indon (reply) — 15:20, 6 September 2006 (UTC) No. They may be the same genus but definitely a different species. The BS Geological Engineering degree from the Colorado School of Mines is more similar to a degree in Geology from a good four-year college, but with a number of engineering courses included. Required courses include a full suite of geology courses with thermodynamics, physics, chemistry, calculus, strength of materials, surveying, fluid mechanics, statics, economics and other engineering courses added to a full curriculum of geology courses. The main thrust is toward structural, stratigraphic, mineralogical and depositional geology related to petroleum and mining enterprises than Engineering Geology. There are one or two Engineering Geology courses but, in my mind, it is Geology with engineering; not Engineering with geology.Reply
