Article should be expanded and renamed
editThis fellow was the overseas Governor of both the northern and southern departments of the HBC lands for many historically important years and has been referred to as the little emperor or Viceroy of much of what is now Canada and a part of US territory. I intend to expand the article but really think referring to him as (administrator) is not representative of his role. James Douglas (governor) and John McLoughlin, and in fact the whole of the Hudson's Bay Company were under his supervision. Everyone in North America reported to him and he reported to the Governor and Council of the HBC in Britain. I propose renaming this George Simpson (governor) but seek input. He was never the actual Governor of the HBC, a position that remained in Britain throughout but was the Governor of Ruperts Land before the merger with the NW Company and, then of the Northern Department and, after a few years the Southern Department as well. Comments on what to rename this are invited. --KenWalker | Talk 01:43, 16 July 2007 (UTC)
Ambiguity of Location
editAt one point the article states that Simpson took a boat to Liverpool, however it does not state which Liverpool. Would someone with the knowledge please be kind enough to add the information, thanks. Sboy365License to edit.
Ambiguity of Birth dates
editParagraphs One and Two show conflicting birth dates. —Preceding unsigned comment added by GEC1961 (talk • contribs) 00:23, 8 January 2009 (UTC)
Junior High
editI am a student who attends a Junior High school that is named after this man. Why the hell does this page not mention the school named after him, or why isn't there even a page dedicated to the school itself?--Alieneater1239 (talk) 16:40, 3 December 2009 (UTC)
- I tell you why. Because this "fine" gentleman unfortunately had a character that is best described in words I can't use here. Your school should best be renamed to honour a person that deserves such privilege. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 91.16.55.201 (talk) 09:23, 7 December 2015 (UTC)
