The web article cited has been taken down and replaced by a page at internet archive. That doesn't really solve the link rot problem, though the former post really does have a hard copy equivalent. The recurring problem is how to cite articles in the newish Dictionary of Virginia Biography, which ends at volume 3 midway through the D's. Since this man's surname is before that, his biography exists in the hard copy volume, but not all of those biographies have actually been posted (much less remain) either at encyclopediavirginia or at lva.virginia.gov. To me, it's important to cite the actual author, as I have here. Also, recently, I received a couple of clearly scammer emails after logging into wikipedia, which even though I had not consulted the internet archive in weeks, contained disclaimers at the bottom purporting to come from there.Jweaver28 (talk) 21:51, 11 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
