Contested deletion
editThis is getting close to WP:DISRUPTIVE behaviour. Exactly as last time the same user nominated the page for deletion, here's no reason to delete this redirect because there's no reason to move German Pekin from the present title, which is correct and unambiguous. German Pekin Duck → German Pekin – This is a mess. Really. The article suffers from title disputes, so proper discussion is needed. George Ho (talk) 11:33, 8 March 2017 (UTC)
- Support "duck" is not part of the breed name and is not needed for disambiguation. "Duck" is appended in many contexts to clarify what a German Pekin is, as many people are not familiar with it. Well known breeds of animals almost never have the type of animal appended (it's "Labrador Retriever", not "Labrador Retriever dog"). We don't as a rule add words to the title to provide this type of clarification; it's assumed that readers have a general idea what something is when they search for it. - Support. This is already under discussion at Talk:American Pekin; exactly the same arguments – for or against – will apply here as there. It shouldn't be necessary to have a second discussion, but we are, so support per Plantdrew. In general, we don't make article titles any longer than they need to be. - Support per above and applicable policy. Frank | talk 22:17, 15 March 2017 (UTC)
