Time
edit"set in the period 940-980" -- What?! The action begins in Norway before King Harald Harfagre unites the country under his rule (which happened in 872 A.D.) Have you even read the saga, then? Shame on you.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Birch Alex (talk • contribs) 14:28, 24 January 2016 (UTC)
- Haakon the Good, foster-son of Aðalsteinn who ruled 934 – 961 is the one mentioned at the beginning of Gisli saga.
- Sagas don't reliably name monarchs in the correct period anyway. --Kiyoweap (talk) 19:51, 4 May 2018 (UTC)
Reality
editActually, it's quite likely that in fact Vestein was slain not by Thorgrim (who hardly had a reason for that) but by Thorkel (who obviously had one).— Preceding unsigned comment added by Birch Alex (talk • contribs) 17:04, 24 January 2016 (UTC)
The Spear
editThere seems to be some confusion here about "The Spear" I am going to rectify.
It was added here that a spear was involved in the blood brother's ceremony.
However, this runed spear (p. 23, Dasent [1]) is obviously not the spear which Thorgrim forged later from the shattered blade of Grásiða (p. 36 [2]).--Kiyoweap (talk) 20:10, 4 May 2018 (UTC)
Done Synopsis was expanded, explaining the Grásiða as broken sword image now added. Expanded Ch. 10 to 11 where Thorkel leaves from Gisli's farm, taking the sword. The sword is then recrafted as spear. --Kiyoweap (talk) 02:05, 5 May 2018 (UTC)
