If this commercial product can't be given a cultural context, it will remain an advertisement and not encyclopedic. --Wetman 14:03, 5 Apr 2005 (UTC)
I can't think of an exact cultural context, but Gold Bond has been well known to men for years as the treatment for itch and moisture problems just south of the belt region (I don't have a reference for that...just memory).
I've edited the article to make it clear that Gold Bond does not *cure* itch and irritation, but only treats the symptoms. I've also removed the "balls tingling" and masturbation reference. I'm not sure that this use is well-known as the original editor thought--I'm certain most people have experienced the sensation, but I'd be willing to bet that most people think of it simply as a body powder, and not as a sex toy. In any case I wouldn't consider 'jackinworld.com' an authoritative source. I wouldn't be opposed to having this added back in, if it were done in a more professional manner, and not referencing jackinworld.com. Mattjm 01:46, 1 April 2006 (UTC)
There needs to be a reference on this page to the male use of Gold Bond on the testicles and inside thighs to reduce chafing. This use is quite common and should not be deleted. UHF 08:39, Aug 13 (PST)
Rename article
editI would strongly suggest renaming this back to Gold Bond, which would allow for other Gold Bond products to be discussed, rather than focusing on a single one. At this point, there simply isn't enough data for anything more than a stub article here. -- Huntster T • @ • C 16:19, 25 April 2007 (UTC)
- Agree. There are multiple Gold Bond SKU's; I've got 6 sitting on my desk right now (they're a client). There's Gold Bond Medicated Foot Powder, Gold Bond Medicated Foot Spray, and a host of others. Qmax 16:59, 25 April 2007 (UTC)
- I'll give it a couple of days. If no one objects, I'll have the move made. -- Huntster T • @ • C 17:15, 25 April 2007 (UTC)
