Seljuq Armenia was nominated for deletion. The discussion was closed on 18 December 2016 with a consensus to merge. Its contents were merged into Seljuk Empire. The original page is now a redirect to this page. For the contribution history and old versions of the redirected article, please see its history; for its talk page, see here.
The name of Seljuq comes from SALCIK -after Selcuk... Sal meaning in Turkish=RAFT and cık=little (supplementary)
Selçuk=Little RAFT.. and Raft was very important for Seljuqs. For example Oğuz Turks couldnt pass to Volga river without Raft.Just winters when river freezed. Sorry for Bad english but anybody dont talk about their name origin. And Source "Jean Paul Roux" his book: Faune et Flore sacrees p134, and Turkish writer Doğan Avcıoğlu History Of Turks p372" Please add this information. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 88.224.87.216 (talk • contribs) 11:34, January 22, 2008 (UTC) – Please sign your posts!

Alp Arslan (r.1063-1072) was a famous Seljuk Conquerer who successfully fought his brother Suleiman, who wanted to take back the seat left by Tughril Beg and Eventually became the official Second Sultan of Seljuk Empire.
He was the first Sultan to Control the Lands under the rule of Tughril Beg and Chaghri Beg's rule. He Expanded The Seljuk Dynasty by Conquering from Georgia to the much of Anatolia (some countries like Armenia were conquered by Him).He also won against the Byzantine Empire in the Battle of Manzikert in 1070. This laid the basis for the future conquest of Anatolia in Türkiye.
Unfortunately, he passed away in 1072 because he was attacked by a prisoner after a quarrrl, and died from wounds obtained.
