Roadable?
editSome websites state that the Aircar could be converted for road use. However, Jane's all the world's aircraft, the most authoritative contemporary source and one which would have had info directly from the manufacturer, does not mention such covertibility. Nor does the note from the Smithsonsion, another sound source. Aerofiles is regarded as citable and reliable; it does not mention road going. Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence, as they say, but claims for such unusual properties require, it seems to me, strong and citable sourcing. In its absence, I chose not to mention road use.TSRL (talk) 12:48, 27 July 2010 (UTC)
- You just have to look at the aircraft to realise that road-going was not an option. I think there is confusion because Convair took up the air-car concept (unsucessfully) with the Convair 111, but this was also not road-able. To cause more confusion Convair also produced the Convair Model 116 comtemporaneously, which WAS a car with wings.Petebutt (talk) 06:24, 29 July 2010 (UTC)
Spilt?
editI'm not exactly sure, but the Model 111 and Gwinn Aircar seem mostly unrelated in terms of development. Maybe there isn't enough info on the 111 to warrant its own article, but if there is I would like to see it.
