Later service and loss
editThere are contradictory versions about the fate of the ship. I added a report from 1881 (published in 1904), which might be verifiable with records in British archives, and contacted the Captain Cook Society by e-mail. --ThT (talk) 17:28, 19 January 2012 (UTC)
Evaporator
editDoes anyone have a cite for Resolution having been fitted with a freshwater distiller? It would also be a useful addition to the evaporator article: at present that has the earliest cited evaporator as being Nelson's Victory. Thanks Andy Dingley (talk) 20:42, 15 February 2013 (UTC)
Done - there is a reference to distilling fresh water from salt water in the Log Book of the HMS Resolution on 22 Aug. 1772, which was compiled by Wiliam Wales on board HMS Resolution during the passage to the South Seas under the command of Captain James Cook.
