Name
editThe father's name is spelled wrongly with a d. It has to be Sigurðsson, also if you can find Icelandic names in English speaking texts often spelled otherwise, this is not correct.

Encyclopedia of Volcanoes
editAlthough H. Sigurdsson was editor-in-chief of "Encyclopedia of Volcanoes", I do not think that this article about him is a suitable place to list the full contents of the encyclopedia. I suggest a new article about the encyclopedia would be a more appropriate place for such a list of contents. --GeoWriter (talk) 20:38, 24 July 2010 (UTC)
- It could be better. How about to list the contents of both books on one article: Encyclopedia of Volcanoes and Lockwood, John P.; Hazlett, Richard W. (2010). Volcanoes: Global Perspectives. p. 552. ISBN 978-1-4051-6250-0. As a guide for our Volcanoes portal? --Chris.urs-o (talk) 04:08, 25 July 2010 (UTC)
- The Volcanoes portal is one possibility. Perhaps raise the possibility on the Volcanoes portal talk page? Another possibility is List of important publications in geology. However, full content listing in that list article probably isn't a sensible idea, because it would make the article very uneven in style, unless the entire contents of all or many more of the books were included, which would then make the article enormous. "Encyclopedia of Volcanoes" already has a stub entry on that list. The Lockwood and Hazlett book isn't on that list yet, if recall correctly. It's a brand new book but I have no doubt that it is an important volcano book. Either way, I think the contents list of "Encyclopedia of Volcanoes" should be removed from this article, which I think should be more biographical in nature. (After all, this article is also part of other Wikipedia projects, not only the Volcanoes project). --GeoWriter (talk) 10:33, 25 July 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks for the external link to the Lockwood and Hazlett book :-) --GeoWriter (talk) 10:35, 25 July 2010 (UTC)

Wrong edits

"Active blogs
Haraldur Sigurdsson has in recent years been active in blogging in Icelandic on various issues related to his science, geology and geochemistry. There he has also been active in criticizing USA government, world capitalism [8] and activities of Chinese companies in the Arctic.[9] He openly supports the left movement in USA. Sigurdsson states that he will work against Hillary Clinton if she would run for the US Presidency. According to him she has “been too long in politics and has become completely corrupted."[10]
In the summer 2014, Sigurdsson wrote very controversial article of a Solarsilicon Project being developed by the US Company Silicor Materials Inc. in Iceland and its pollution.[11] However he has not been able to support that with any scientific evidence. Most writings and official reports in Iceland shows very different views.[12][13][14][15]"
The edit was made by a user account that no longer exists and this appears to be an attempt to spread false information about Haraldur Sigurdsson personality. It should be removed. Haraldur him self protests this in a blog entry here, http://vulkan.blog.is/blog/vulkan/entry/1716726/ (in Icelandic).
The user in question that did add this wrong information can be found here, the account it self no longer exists as it has been deleted.

- User accounts are not deleted on Wikipedia. This user has just never created a user page. These additions are not false as such but the tone of the text feels slanted. --Bjarki (talk) 10:08, 28 April 2015 (UTC)
