Talk:Hawaiian–Emperor seamount chain

For how long has this process gone on?

edit
Are the oldest seamounts (near the Aleutian Trench) 80 million years old?
Have older seamounts been subducted under the North American Plate at the Aleutian Trench
How much more of this plate (together with older seamounts) may have disappeared?
Info on this would be useful in the article. --Tediouspedant (talk) 18:55, 6 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Requested move

edit

Hawaiian-Emperor seamount chain and Hawaiian – Emperor seamount chain (with an em dash) should be switched. The one with no spaces and the hyphen should hold the actual article, and the other should be a redirect to it. --cbdorsett (talk) 18:15, 10 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Absolutely, and done at last, though it is an en dash, as per guidelines here. Macdonald-ross (talk) 13:43, 14 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

Naming Convention

edit

Why is there nothing on the naming convention here? To the layman, that is the most interesting point. It says in the Detriot summit wiki page that these are named after Japanese emperors. Why is this so? Surely, this information should be on this page. 82.10.108.118 (talk) 13:07, 3 June 2012 (UTC)Reply
