How many are there?

edit

This Henry Dumaresq is a Tasmanian cricketer. Is he the same Henry Dumaresq as the links from Electoral division of Longford and Electoral district of Longford which presently point to this article? They are not the one in the Australian Dictionary of Biography, Henry Dumaresq (public servant). --Scott Davis Talk 12:59, 6 October 2018 (UTC)Reply

Hi Scott. I don't think it's the same person, as they have different dates of birth and death. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 13:08, 6 October 2018 (UTC)Reply
I would agree. This article post-dates the electoral district articles so they would have been redlinks at the time. Frickeg (talk) 13:33, 6 October 2018 (UTC)Reply
Checking deeper, Henry Rowland Gascoigne Dumaresq, the member of the House of Assembly seems to match the cricketer based on birth and death dates. Clearly the public servant in the ADB is different as he had died before the others became relevant. I have not found an online reference for the one in the Legislative Council yet, assuming the same man could not sit in both houses simultaneously. --Scott Davis Talk 05:30, 8 October 2018 (UTC)Reply
I think there might have been a cockup with the electorate articles. The to my knowledge complete Tasmanian Parliament register only has the former cricketer. The terms on the LC and HA electorate pages are almost identical. Upon more digging (half an hour later!), the register page for William Dodery, who we've marked as the previous LC MP before the mysterious Dumaresq confirms that Longford was abolished in December 1885, at which time he transferred to Westmorland. I've also just realised our parliament member lists for the Legislative Council (correctly, it seems) lacked a Dumaresq all along. The Drover's Wife (talk) 20:01, 9 October 2018 (UTC)Reply
