Serious ommission
editYou've forgotten to include in your chronology the events of 1922. I suspec that the deportation of hundreds of thousands of Greeks, a very vivid part of the city's population deserves some mentioning. Don't you? I assume good faith, and I expect you to add the missing information. Thanks!--Yannismarou 12:07, 6 April 2007 (UTC)
- Still, waiting ... I don't want to interfere in the article and add the events myself ...--Yannismarou 07:36, 7 April 2007 (UTC)
- Well, the article has a in-construction tag.. I am sure cretan has taken a note of it.. Baristarim 07:49, 7 April 2007 (UTC)
- This is also my firm belief, and that is why I don't act unilaterally.--Yannismarou 07:59, 7 April 2007 (UTC)
- I am sure he will get around to it soon :) Baristarim 08:04, 7 April 2007 (UTC)
- Cretanforever, can you please give me a straightforward answer. I believe that you have seen my posts, and I am sorry if you believe that they are not worthy of any answer. So, my question is simple:Do you honestly believe that between 1902 and 1936 nothing notable happened in Izmir? Don't you know the events of this period? Do you want me to add them, if you don't want to or if you don't feel comfortable to add them? Thank you in advance for your kind responses.--Yannismarou 19:46, 16 April 2007 (UTC)
- In fact, I saw your posts only now, but I fail to understand the sense of the question. I am working on this article, as the tag indicates. It's not an easy article, too diverse subject headings and I am waiting for some material. As yet, there is nothing between the 178 AD and 1071 AD either, which doesn't mean that nothing happened in the city at that time. Cretanforever 21:00, 20 April 2007 (UTC)
- OK! Thanks for your answer. I'll wait until your work is over.--Yannismarou 11:19, 21 April 2007 (UTC)

Name change
editAs discussed, I intend to revert the title back to İzmir chronology if no objections. Far from me the pretension of wanting to write a History of İzmir. It's a chronology, a timeline of events without any analysis or conclusions. Cretanforever 06:01, 24 May 2007 (UTC)
- I agree that "chronology" or "timeline" is a more proper title for the article in question.--Yannismarou 07:42, 24 May 2007 (UTC)
- I removed the "work" tag and replaced with a "dynamic list" tag (although there will be perhaps
better ideas than that tag). I feel there is currently something of a gap in the city's Byzantine history, when it had declined in importance, until the Nicaean Empire. Cretanforever 16:02, 2 June 2007 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:AlbumdeSmyrne1.jpg
editImage:AlbumdeSmyrne1.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Image sought of Alexander in relation to Smyrna
editHi Yannis. I appeal to your initial contributions, especially as far as categorization was concerned, to the article Timeline of İzmir. Though, in my opinion, the article is bound to remain as an list by its nature and can only be developped on a piecemeal basis, it is my intention to keep the wide coverage of its content as balanced as possible. This also holds true for the images in the article and I am seeking, in this mindset, an image of Alexander the Great to put in there, next to Homer's. One like the numismatic example shown here [1], showing him sleeping on the slopes of Kadifekale (Pagos) while he is being whispered that this is where he should found the new city of Smyrna would be perfect by its relevance to the subject matter. Do you have an idea on where such an image could be found and safely uploaded with no dubious copyright status or inconstant link. Regards. Cretanforever (talk) 18:28, 2 October 2009 (UTC)
Hello again Yannis! I am also seeking a suitable image myself but it takes an effort Cretanforever (talk) 17:47, 6 October 2009 (UTC)
- I'll take a look tomorrow, Cretan! Cheers!--Yannismarou (talk) 18:56, 6 October 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks, I'll still be waiting. Homer must have been feeling quite lonesome in there. Regards. Cretanforever (talk) 15:21, 16 October 2009 (UTC)
Hemingway
editThis is incorrect! Hemingway had not been to Smyrna as is claimed here. The short story that he wrote was derived from the testimonies of those who had been there.[Giles Milton][2], pp 380-381
