I looked at this article and the article from which it was split, and while I think the intent was a good one, neither this section nor the parent article is so long that a split is necessary. I would recommend adding it back to the original article. --McDoobAU93 (talk) 17:22, 26 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Keep separate Length is one issue, but there is also the context. At the moment this article is about the technology evolution and history largely (that may change over time of course), but when this is put into the original article it dominates and swamps all other content in that article which covers other aspects of the prepaid service. So I think it justifies staying on a seperate page. ChrisUK (talk) 19:38, 26 April 2010 (UTC)Reply
Oppose. Worthy of its own article. -- Alan Liefting (talk - contribs) 21:45, 17 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

Rest of the world: MIA?

edit

This article barely mentions the existence of any other country outside of the USA. Very poor article. I could understand such US-centricity on some articles but an article about mobile phones where the USA has such poor technology (few significant manufacturers, poor coverage, charges to receive calls, low 3G/4G availability, etc.) should focus on countries like Korea, Finland, China, Estonia, Japan, Britain, Sweden which have led the way in many cases. Pull your finger out of your arse Wikipedia and stop letting the USA dominate your articles.--109.114.71.114 (talk) 21:28, 16 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

TIM, PAYG in 1996

edit

TIM introduced pre-paid SIMs in Italy in 1996: https://www.italiaoggi.it/archivio/tim-inventa-la-carta-sim-prepagata-272612 - it may not have "invented" it as the article says, but neverthless was one of the first operator to introduce it in Europe, it launched it in October 1996. It's no surprise such systems became popular in areas where contracts were expensive and often carried fixed fees. 93.46.180.165 (talk) 10:11, 6 December 2018 (UTC)Reply
