Introduction

edit

I tried to rewrite the opening sentence to better introduce this great Irishman. Leading off by describing Plunkett as a "unionist" didn't seem to do justice to his accomplishments or political career, though of course Plunkett's time as a unionist MP did much to complicate his later pursuits and earned him the mistrust of many who should have worked alongside him. Therefore I put "agricultural reformer" first, and put "unionist MP and Irish Senator" close to the end. Fiachra10003 (talk) 14:07, 7 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

Only mid-importance in cooperatives? Hope an appropriate Irish rating is also given, this guy did a lot, bringing co-ops (which still made a big difference when I was growing up, whatever has happened since) and formal agricultural training to the country only part of it.217.213.150.138 05:17, 30 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Relationship to George Noble Plunkett

edit
His older brother was the 17th Baron of Dunsany and his cousin was George Noble Plunkett, a Papal Count and father of Joseph Mary Plunkett.

I've changed the above to 'distant cousin' as the article for George Noble Plunkett states the two men were fifth cousins. Please revise if you have contrary information. --Saforrest (talk) 18:36, 24 October 2014 (UTC)Reply
