Iravikkutti Pillai belonged to the Valiya Veedu Nadar family of Keralapuram in Kalkulam now in the Kanyakumari District of Tamil Nadu. His mother was Easvari Ammala. Kuzhikkottu Paduvilakathu Kochu Narayana Channar was his Guru in warfare. He became a minister under the King Unni Kerala Varma of Venad[1]The capital of Venad was Eraniel palace[2][3].During his time, Madurai Thirumala Naickar attacked Venad. Iravikkutti Pillai was asked to lead the venad army and the attack which was spearheaded by Velayyan was repulsed. As a reward, Iravikkutti Pillai was appointed the Chief Minister and the Commander-in-Chief of Venad. But Thirumala Naickar sent another army under the leadership of Ramappayyan to attack Venad. The battle at Kaniyamkulam near Nagercoil was decisive. Some army commanders betrayed the Venad army out of jealousy towards Iravikkutti Pillai Padathalavan and the Madurai army defeated the Venad army. Iravikkutti Pillai was killed in the battle. This incident became the theme for the folk song for the Villadichan Paattu ‘‘‘Kaniyakulathu Poru’ which is written by kanjiramkulam Kochu Krishnan Nadar[4] in the local Tamil dialect. This song describes the life history of Iravikkutti Pillai. His cemetery was near keralapuram Siva temple close to his ancestral house. There is also have Bhadra kali temple which is called as Padathalavan Bhadrakali Temple. His reputed horse was also cremated near his cemetery opposite the temple. Kunchirakottu Kaali was his trusted disciple. Every year Tamil Nadu Nadar Sangam Celebrates his birthday in Kanyakumari. [5]
Some Nairs claims he belonged to nair but at that time nairs are considered as shudras so they are not allowed to join in the army. [6][7] Akhilvstvm (talk) 17:00, 25 January 2019 (UTC)
- Except perhaps for Caravan magazine, none of these sources meet WP:RS. The Caravan source does not discuss Pillai so we can't use it in any case. Ah, maybe janachinda is ok for his birthday, but the average reader won't know what "Tamil Nadu Nadar Sangam" means. I also see almost no links to other articles, don't any of these people or events have articles? For instance, who is Kuzhikkottu Paduvilakathu Kochu Narayana Channar? There aren't even any sources for whoever he was, so why should he be mentioned in the article? Doug Weller talk 17:12, 25 January 2019 (UTC)

Dear sir , This article about Iravikutty Pillai ,a legendary swordsmen and military commander is being edited by some groups thereby providing false information to the public. The user who edited the article has added the Word 'Nadar' after the name of iravikutty Pillai and Kunchirakottu Kaali which is wrong. Nadar is caste of Toddy Tappers found in Kerala,They are no way related to military which is occupied by 'Nair' caste .The man who edited this article might be related to the website 'eraniel palace.com' which is a website of Nadars since he is repeatedly posting references to that site containing Cheap Fiction not history. I have heard lot of stories about Iravikutty and kali as Nairs but unfortunately i dont have any evidence supporting my claim. The secret agenda of a group of Nadars should not be supported by a reputed website like WIKIPEDIA . There is a movie named 'KAALIYAN' coming soon in Malayalam about these legends which is done after thorough research , as per the makers of this film both are Nairs and not Nadars.
My request is not to replce the word 'Nadar' with 'Nair' but to change the word 'Nadar' from this article wherever it occurs as it can cause widespread confusion and communal tensons once the movie releases . Please do the needful 59.95.74.51 (talk) 09:32, 29 March 2019 (UTC)
