On 11-28-07 I created the new page "James Leith (1763-1845)."

On 11-29-07 someone changed it to "James Leith (Peninsular War)" so I changed all the links to this name.

On 11-30-07 someone changed it AGAIN to "James Leith (British Army officer)."

OK, maybe the second choice was a little better than my first stab at it. But to change it A SECOND TIME in two days! Djmaschek 05:21, 1 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

The problem is that there is another James Leith who was a British Army officer, that being James Leith (Scottish VC). I created a James Leith dab page instead of the redir to the VC article. If nobody objects, I'm going to move this one back to the Peninsular War title, and hereby apologize to anybody who is as frustrated as Djmaschek about the whole mess. James Leith (general) wouldn't work, incidentally, because the Scottish VC eventually became a Major General himself. --Orange Mike | Talk 17:17, 3 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Trouble is Leith is also known for his work in the West Indies (only touched on in the article) Kernel Saunters 19:13, 3 December 2007 (UTC)Reply
I suggest moving to James Leith (British Army infantry officer), since the other Leith was a cavalry officer. -- Necrothesp (talk) 10:24, 5 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

The name of the page has been changed several times in the 12 days since I created it!!! I was aware of the other James Leith. Earlier, I mistakenly linked the Peninsular War battles to his name. When I realized he was a different person, I created a new James Leith page with a unique identifier (birth & death dates). BTW: Thank you for adding material about the West Indes. We've got it stabilized, with the James Leith (British Army infantry officer) and James Leith (VC), and a dab page in case more James Leiths swim up from the rolls of history. Birthdates are not generally recommended when disambiguating, as raw dates tell you nothing about the person(s) involved. --Orange Mike | Talk 05:01, 10 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

The result of the move request was: moved to James Leith (British Army officer, born 1763). Other than the nom, only one other argument was brought forth, and the nom did not seem to disagree with it. WP:OTHEROPTIONS and WP:TITLECON applies. James Leith (British Army officer)James Leith (soldier, born 1763) – The existing title is ambiguous with James Leith (VC).
