Nickname
editPer WP:HOCKEY's decision to remove the nickname field from the infobox, it is being moved here for use later. "| nickname = Mario Jr., Jagrmeister[1]" -Djsasso (talk) 21:56, 29 July 2008 (UTC)

Cherepanov Incident
editAdded the details of Cherepanov's death under Avangard Omsk. AlexRochon (talk) 20:44, 13 October 2008 (UTC)
I took that comment away, as the reports of the collision have been refuted by Wayne Fleming and Omsk. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.191.222.207 (talk) 22:10, 13 October 2008 (UTC)
Link please? AlexRochon (talk) 22:14, 13 October 2008 (UTC)
Sorry, I've edited the info in again before finding out there was a conflict here about it. However, I've also added a reference from NHL.com that should give enough credibility unless anything new comes up. Orlandkurtenbach (talk) 22:17, 13 October 2008 (UTC)
Seeing as you put it back in again, I cleaned up your addition a bit. AlexRochon (talk) 23:32, 13 October 2008 (UTC)
- And I took it back out, seeing as every source I've seen has either clearly said there was no collision or has said that the coaches could not see anything on the ice. If the kid had a heart attack, adding that he and Jagr touched is in complete violation of WP:UNDUE. --Smashvilletalk 23:35, 13 October 2008 (UTC)
- Per the AP "There was no collision that preceded the collapse".
- Per NY Times "Cherepanov’s collapse was not preceded by a collision with another player or blows to the head or chest."
- Per CBC "There was apparently no collision that preceded the incident and the young forward had been playing well — scoring a goal earlier in the contest."
Rangers Section is Huge
editWhy does the Rangers section of a player's career always dwarf other sections? On Gretzky's page it's the same thing, even though New York was such a small part of his career. It should be in proportion, so some stuff from the Rangers section should be deleted, and some stuff maybe added to the Penguins section. I'm an oilers fan, but the rangers thing buggs me on wikipedia. Jagr's career was born in, thrived, and for the most part died in Pittsburgh. His article should reflect that —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.149.137.181 (talk • contribs) 05:43, December 3, 2008

During the NHL lockout in 2012–13 season, Jagr played for his own team Rytíři Kladno in the Czech Extraliga. During this lockout, he scored 24 goals and 33 assists in 34 games, and before leaving Kladno for the Dallas Stars, he was in second place of Czech Extraliga's scoring list.
input a 'the' before 'Dallas Stars'

Time with the Capitals
editHello editors,
It looks like the section on his tenure with the Capitals needs a lot of work. I just corrected some of the chronological errors, but it still seems awkward -- especially the part about not making the playoffs, being a leading scorer and an all star (no citation?). I will work to make these changes in time but please contribute if you are familiar with his time playing for the Captials. Wisdomthatiswoe (talk) 14:18, 25 July 2013 (UTC)
- 9 years late to reply here, but I agree that this section could still use some work. I've added a few citations, but there seems to be a fair bit of editorializing here–"Jágr did not live up to expectations," "not just a cost-cutting spree, but also an acknowledgement that their attempt to build a contender with high-priced veteran talent had failed," and "few teams were willing to risk $11 million on Jágr" (among others) are uncited and seem to be matters of opinion. I'm very new and don't want to run afoul of any standards by making content edits–what do other folks think? KatieBugRed (talk) 06:41, 8 May 2022 (UTC)
The usage of Jágr (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) is up for discussion, see talk: Jágr (surname) -- 76.65.128.222 (talk) 02:17, 14 August 2013 (UTC)
Sentence about his grandfather
edit- His grandfather had been jailed, by Soviet forces invading Czechoslovakia in 1968 as a response to the Prague Spring, for having refused to work on his farm for free.
This sentence is just a load of propaganda BS. Nobody was working for free (not even prisoners - only political ones in camps in 1950s), nobody was arrested by Soviet forces in Czechoslovakia - for obvious reasons. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 95.105.152.164 (talk) 16:21, 8 December 2013 (UTC)
- Sources - and Jágr himself - say that his grandfather has died in 1968. They don't mention his arrest. TV Nova claims he was arrested after the Soviet occupation, which is probably not true. Another (more reliable) source, Reflex, says he died as a political prisoner in Jáchymov. The links are in Czech. --Vejvančický (talk / contribs) 11:42, 9 December 2013 (UTC)
Could use a 'Playing Style' subsection
editI've seen this for other hockey players and it tends to be the most interesting part of the article. Vranak (talk) 00:58, 29 March 2015 (UTC)
Jagr's weight
editJagr's weight in lbs is correct according to nhl.com. 230 lbs is, however, more than 100 kgs. I can't figure out how to change the kg listing without changing the lb listing, but perhaps someone else knows how to do this.
