Lauren Scheff
editAs of late, there seems to be some strange coordinated campaign to remove references to Lauren Scheff as one of Jerry's sons. I have no idea what the motivation is, but I have found reliable sources stating that he is a Jerry's son and Jason and Darin's brother. The source is in the article; please do not continue to remove the information. I am willing to email a copy of the full text source to anyone who requests it.
Select quotes from the article:
- "'Artists no longer have to suffer countless blind auditions before they find the right match,' said Darin Scheff, who runs the business with his brother Lauren."
- "The Scheff brothers -- who have produced, engineered and written songs for various independent acts and labels here and in Los Angeles -- come from a family with a sterling musical pedigree."
- "Jerry Scheff, their father, was Elvis Presley's longtime bass guitar player, and he can be heard on the Doors' classic 'L.A. Woman' album, among other projects."
I trust this closes the issue. --Andy Walsh (talk) 17:13, 25 January 2010 (UTC)
- As we discussed on my talk page, I don't think there is some strange coordinated campaign to remove references to Lauren Scheff as one of Jerry's sons. In the past there simply have been no citations for these statements when they have been added to the article. Citations are required for all article content (see WP:CITE), but especially for biographies of living persons (see WP:BLP). So the motivation for removal of this content in the past has simply been the lack of a citation. I'm glad to see you added the content back in with a citation. However, note that in the three quotes you provided above from your cited source, only from the last can we conclude that Lauren Scheff is the son of Jerry Scheff (and loosely at that, because it relies on the assumption that the possessive pronoun "their" refers in part to Lauren). Also, it is interesting to note that Jerry Scheff's brief (auto)biography at http://www.jerryscheff.com/ mentions Jason and Darin, but does not mention Lauren. --hulmem (talk) 02:06, 26 January 2010 (UTC)
I've never had a discussion on your talk page; you must be referring to someone else.I agree that the quotes are problematic out of context. Hence, I am willing to e-mail the entire article on request. I got it through my library search. The article is about a joint venture of Lauren and Darin's, and it goes on to mention Jason and then Jerry. There also used to be a web site set up called Scheff's cafe or something similar that featured all three brothers. I won't speculate about what happened, but at some point there was a dramatic attempt all around the internet to disassociate Lauren from the rest of the family. --Andy Walsh (talk) 03:16, 26 January 2010 (UTC)
Alright, well how's this for a reliable reference?: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm2298870/bio Clearly states that he is Jerry Scheff's son. Like Andy Walsh, I don't understand why certain doubters seem intent on removing Lauren Scheff from this entry. Does anyone really have a reliable source to say that Lauren is NOT Jerry's son!?!? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.255.251.159 (talk) 06:04, 11 January 2011 (UTC)
Selected discography
editIn the ==Discography== section, someone needs to create a selected discography list above the complete discography. The selected discography should be the most notable (highest selling or whatever) and is fully displayed, and the full discography is collapsed by default.
