Palestine
editI'm somewhat amazed that this organization's work in Palestine is not mentioned. The books of Avneri and Shilony have much on this. Zerotalk 14:03, 21 October 2009 (UTC)
Argentina
editWhile I appreciate the fact that editors working to add more about Canada have added much to this article, it now looks quite lopsided. A casual reader who is not conversant on the topic will end up thinking quite erroneously that the JCA operated mostly in Canada, despite the assertion in the introducing paragraph about Argentina and Brazil.
I have registered to contribute and expand the article on the colonies in South America, mostly Argentina and to a lesser degree Brazil. I am new however, so I am looking forward to mess up a lot. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Arielinopitino (talk • contribs) 23:22, 5 November 2012 (UTC)

... Freidenberg may have written other, related works, as well. Kind regards, DA Sonnenfeld (talk) 19:09, 16 May 2016 (UTC)
Headquarters
editIt's my impression that the organization's headquarters were in Paris, France, not Ottawa, at least initially... Kind regards, DA Sonnenfeld (talk) 23:51, 18 May 2016 (UTC)
- This page suggests that "ICA's main offices are situated in London"; the website indicates that "ICA in Israel" is a "project" of the "JCA Charitable Foundation". Apparently there are different, albeit related, organizations, with varying bases and functions. Looks like an update/ further development of this article is in order. Thanks, DA Sonnenfeld (talk) 00:00, 19 May 2016 (UTC)
Name Shift
editThe JCA changed it's name to "Jewish Charitable Association" but I don't succeed changing the article title.. Someone can help me doing that? Frankmatuto (talk) 13:59, 29 October 2023 (UTC)
- This would need to be documented with reliable sources, and then, depending when the change was made (if it's say more than 20 years), the article could be renamed. But first we need the reliable sources for this and the alleged date of the change. Until such time I am reverting the changes already made. Thank you, warshy (¥¥) 19:25, 29 October 2023 (UTC)
- Look here for some history-rewriting (no mention of the original name). I would argue that it only played a significant part in history in the past when it was "Jewish Colonisation Association". That is also the name by which the majority of reliable sources refer to it. So I would argue for keeping the current article name. Zerotalk 00:19, 30 October 2023 (UTC)
- I agree. It was a significant historical agent in the past only, and under the name "Jewish Colonisation Association." If there were later changes, they can be mentioned in a separate section at the end, but the name of article should not be changed. That was the name under which the association was an influential historical agent in the past. By the second half of the 20th century it had ceased to be an influential historical agent. Conversion to CIO in 2020 with a Potential Added Source
editThis organization formally converted from a private company to a CIO in 2020. This following is an update from their annual report in 2020:
"The Foundation formally converted to a CIO on 25 September 2020.
Our new Objects clause states:
The objects are, for the public benefit and in any part of the world,
a) the relief of those in need by reason of youth, age, ill health, disability, financial hardship or other disadvantage; and
b) the advancement of education, within the Jewish community and within communities with which the Jewish community interacts."
Apologies for the length! 66.131.227.20 (talk) 05:40, 16 June 2024 (UTC)
- These legal documents usually pay attention to accuracy, but this one hides the original name of the association by lying about it: "The JCA Charitable Foundation was formed in 1891." Umm, no, the Jewish Colonization Association was formed in 1891. When did it start being called the JCA Charitable Foundation? I see a 2001 mention, though I'm not sure it is the same outfit.
