Notability of subject: This is a killing

edit

The subject of this article, Jim Kitterman, appears to be notable primarily because he was killed in Iraq and the FBI and Iraqi officials investigated the circumstances of his killing as a murder. Otherwise, the subject appears to be a low-profile individual who is only notable for this single event. Apart from his death, there appears to be few reliable sources about this person, so it will be hard to write a biography without original research. That means the crime is notable, not the person. As far as I can tell, while this is considered a murder investigation, no determination of what crime has actually been committed, or who was responsible, has been made. Consequently, Wikipedia should describe this crime as the "Killing of Jim Kitterman" because there is no adjudication of murder, yet. Additionally, the allegation that Jim Kitterman "... was murdered ..." is editorializing because this statement is not supported by the sources, who say the victim was either "killed", "stabbed" or "found dead" and only use the term murder in connection with investigating that as a probable crime. None of the people arrested have been charged with murder and evidence suggests at least one likely suspect is dead. Without a judicial decision to support these allegations, Wikipedia should only report this as a killing, not a murder. - Cameron Dewe (talk) 01:26, 24 June 2022 (UTC)Reply

Jim KittermanKilling of Jim Kitterman – Biographies about people notable for a single event and Wikipedia's naming conventions for violence and deaths advise that articles like this one should be named for the event, rather than the person. This article is primarily about Kitterman's killing and consequential events, rather than being a biography about Kitterman himself, who is otherwise a low-profile individual.
