"Kennedy's head explodes" +Zapruder frame number
editThe Zapruder film section says "Frame 313 captures the exact moment at which Kennedy's head explodes." I have attempted to change this to "Frame 313 captures the exact moment of the fatal shot to Kennedy's head.", but this was reverted to the status quo by User:HAL333. This is the only mention in the article of JFK's head "exploding" or to a Zapruder frame number, and is referenced by a France 24 article suggesting 'An entire genre of horror films featuring “realistic” exploding heads would follow, tracing their inspiration back to Zapruder’s infamous frame 133 [sic]'. This is the only mention in the France 24 article of exploding heads, the article is about the influence on Hollywood of the Zapruder film, not about the JFK assassination, and the frame number is different. I don't think this article is a reliable source.
1. Can someone sort out the frame number, with a better source?
2. "Kennedy's head explodes" is lazy and misleading journalese. I think my version was more accurate, and would like it to stand.

- Frame 313 is not when the fatal bullet enters his head. It is the moment at which brain matter is ejected due to that bullet. They are two different events. Your change was just incorrect. I am not, however, opposed to using something less "journalese" to describe what is a 'brain matter ejection'. At the time, "explodes" seemed concise as it was a single word used by a reliable publication, a publication that was approved by peer reviewers when I made this entry a Featured Article. I'll try to find a new RS. ~ HAL333 14:32, 22 November 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks, but I still dislike "explodes". WP's description of an explosion is "a rapid expansion in volume of a given amount of matter associated with an extreme outward release of energy". "Kennedy's head explodes" does not fit that description. Can you come up with something better, please? Also, the frame number discrepancy needs fixing, since the WP article ("frame 313") misquotes its source ("frame 133"). Masato.harada (talk) 16:48, 22 November 2024 (UTC)
