There needs to be a standalone article on the floods in Eastern Kentucky on July 27-28, 2022. It DEFINITELY meets WP:LASTING as the local news media continues to mention the floods even almost two years later. West Virginia WXeditor (talk) 23:18, 20 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
Can someone share their thoughts on this? At the very least, shouldn’t the EKY flood section be expanded? Or should there be a full article devoted to Eastern Kentucky? Because over 40 people died , millions of dollars in damage was done, and I know for a fact that people will be talking about this for years, I happen to also know that WYMT-TV had a special segment last July to mark the one year anniversary of the floods. So it definitely meets WP:LASTING if it’s still being talked about a year, two years later. And the floods killed twice as many people as the floods in West Virginia back in 2016 did (and the 2016 flood still occasionally gets mentioned on local news and it’s been nearly eight years.)
And also as a side note; I am also the IP editor behind 108.147.10.55, and I made that comment about two months before registering. (As I eluded to in my edit summary, I had previously made the comment immediately above this as an IP address too, but it was a different IP, and I re-attributed it to my username).
I’ll also add; apparently there was an article about the floods and someone deleted it. But it gets better; that someone who apparently AfD’d it @Cabin134 was a sock puppet of @Pitzzaboy. So a sockpuppet had deleted a perfectly good article. West Virginia WXeditor (talk) 06:31, 3 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
OK, you have a few options to base it off of. There's List of California floods and Flood history in Chehalis, Washington that serve as the best examples of existing floods for a particular area. So forewarning, it might be a fair bit of work. But it's totally doable. Start by getting the entries in the category (probably some tropical cyclones), and then do research to find other events. Do you need help setting it up? ♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 20:31, 3 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
Oh, you meant make a new article for that. If you deem it necessary, then go ahead and make it. Don't be afraid to make new articles; WP:BOLD is a thing you know. ChessEric21:18, 4 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
Oppose not quite yet. Add meteorological history and damage total, and perhaps retitle it (since it covers more than just Kentucky), but it's close. ♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 18:21, 22 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
The draft is probably ready for publishing. However; since I have already started this discussion, I am going to hold off on publishing the draft until after we know the results of this discussion. Since the draft is technically a split from this article. 🌀 Hurricane Clyde 🌀 (talk) 19:23, 22 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
