In accordance with Wikipedia article naming policies - including specific policies for church leaders - I have reverted the recent change of the article's name. Only in exceptional instances can articles include titles or positions etc in the article name. This article is not an exception to these policies. The church's naming style for bishops etc is completely irrelevant in Wikipedia. I tried to change it to Kallistos Ware but couldn't so I've changed it back to Timothy Ware instead. If anyone knows how to change it to Kallistos Ware please do so - but don't change it back to "Metropolitan Kallistos ... " as this is clearly contrary to WP's policies. Thanks. I concur with the suggested move to "Kallistos Ware". I would do it, but I'm afraid I do not know how to do so either, and I'd likely end up breaking a great many redirects. I will begin the procedure from the move, by requesting the deletion of redirect "Kallistos Ware" This move is reasonable on Wikipedia as other clergy's pages are titled by their Ecclesiastical names, such as Benedict XVI. Once the redirect is deleted (a non-controversial technical deletion) we will be able to move this page into the empty spot. --Pstanton (talk) 02:25, 16 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Note that the move has been accomplished. --Pstanton (talk) 05:55, 18 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Fellowship of Pembroke College

I've changed this date from 1979 to 1970. I've marked this change as non-substantive because both dates are a considerable time ago. My authority for making this change is Metropolitan Kallistos himself - he is sitting beside me as I write. "It has been said that there is no true person unless there are two entering into communication with one another. The isolated individual is not a real person. A real person is one who lives in and for others. And the more personal relationships we form with others, the more we truly realize ourselves as persons." - Kallistos Ware — Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.201.66.251 (talk) 17:31, 30 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

Claims about Kallistos's relation with ROCOR

edit

user:Mitredestructor2 keeps adding charges that Kallistos is disobedient to his canonical superiors. This seems to me to be a clear violation of WP:BLP; the only sources offered don't support the claim, and seem to also run afoul of WP:BLOGS.

user:Mitredestructor2, please stop adding this material into the article. You've already violated the three-revision rule; the next step would be to report you (and/or possibly lock this page), but I hope that won't be necessary. -- Narsil (talk) 19:46, 11 March 2013 (UTC)Reply

I agree that ROCOR's homepage explicitly says it has no editorial control over posts, and that authors are solely responsible for post contents. That's a flat declaration of "BLOG" which generally is unacceptable at wikipedia unless the advocate of the blog convinces the rest of us an exception in the rule apples (they are listed at WP:SELFPUB. It seems that his issue is still going on. I removed a line that reported that Kallistos set up the St Nicholas Church, and that called that parish schismatic. I don't think there is a schism between the EP and the MP, as far as anyone knows, and Kallistos had nothing to do with the setting up of that parish... Please, I do not know who you are, but please do not slander like that. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.146.12.79 (talk) 12:41, 14 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

removed contentious commentary

edit

In accordance with Wikipedia's Neutral POV policy, I removed an entry from Flu8, which essentially offered a contentious editorial commentary on a piece Ware recently published about homosexuality. The entry accused Ware of "having fallen away from Orthodox teaching and the Orthodox Church in a fundamental way, going against the very foundations of the Holy Sacraments and Holy Tradition of the Church." It cited only a contentious online editorial, itself full of ad hominem attacks (http://www.orthodoxytoday.org/blog/2018/06/kallistos-ware-comes-out-for-homosexual-marriage/)

It seems people want to keep adding this sort of commentary to the article. Perhaps the article should be locked temporarily or something. 2610:130:101:E00:223:AEFF:FE81:49D1 (talk) 18:09, 14 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

Rumored death

edit

There are statements circulating on FB, and elsewhere on line, reporting that Metropolitan Kallistos has reposed. A response posted from a personal acquaintance of his indicates the claim of his death is premature although he is in critical condition and unlikely to survive the week. Be alert for the posting of any unsubstantiated announcements. 173.48.72.149 (talk) 22:33, 14 August 2022 (UTC)Reply
