European release

Android Version

The official Amazon specifications page for developers says that the Kindle Fire HD runs a operating system based on Android 4.0.3, not 4.0.4 as listed in the article. I believe that the model numbers should be added in the tables. This is highly useful information, due to there being two different Kindle Fire HD 7" models with important differing features, the same name, but differing model numbers. This would be helpful, but less crucial, with the 8.9 models, which do have differing names (HD vs HDX). I know this from experience when shopping for a Kindle, and finding incorrect sales listings for Kindle Fire HD features that were only resolved once I found the model numbers.

Fourth generation

My Fire HD 7 clearly says it's a fourth generation in the settings (and you can search amazon.com and find 4th gen products), but this article numbers them off-by-one (it seems). Is the device itself counting the Kindle Fire (non-HD) as the first generation getting us to the fourth.. if so, that would probably need to be mentioned here.. or rather just renumber things so they match the device and news articles. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.107.95.37 (talk) 05:35, 1 January 2015 (UTC)

What happens is the late 2014 Fire HD tablet is the 3rd generation of the Fire HD line, but it is also part of the 4th generation of Kindle Fire tablets. It can be confusing because Amazon is using the same name for tablets each year. I added a detail about the 2014 tablets being part of the 4th generation. Indeed, the unreferenced "feature table" is somewhere between incorrect and confusing. Amazon refers to the 8.9-inch Fire HD as "second generation" [1], but this table calls the same model "first generation". -- Mikeblas (talk) 14:55, 10 May 2015 (UTC)

2.5th generation?

The table refers to a 2.5th generation for the Fire HD 8.9" tablet but is that really the case? It was only released two months after the 7" version. Kookiethebird (talk) 00:01, 30 December 2016 (UTC)

New Hardware Table

I just made a merge of the tables for Fire TV, Fire, Fire HD, and Fire HDX to unify them and make them consistent. Instead of adding extra vertical rows for the Cellular models, I added them as new columns. Since adding cellular adds a bunch of extra rows, this condenses the tables considerably and makes it more legible in my opinion. Below is the entire table. Update 8" 2020

Supposedly according to Geekbench here are the stats/specs for the 2020 8"
